For flights, we recommend booking about 3-6 months in advance. For hotels, some are available a year in advance, others 4 months in advance. Per our wedding planner, hotels get cheaper the closer we’ll get to the date, but they could fill up. She recommends booking hotels via a website (such as booking.com) that will allow you to cancel with no fees, and then checking back later to see if the price has dropped.
Great question! The attire is garden party formal. Think fun floral patterns, bright colors, long dresses or jumpsuits, and suits with ties or bowties. We want our wedding to feel full of color and bright (so steer clear of black dresses and opt for a colorful one!). We will mostly be on pavement but some of the cocktail hour is on grass so please note that chunky heels may do better than stilettos. Below is a link to a document (we couldn't figure out how to hyperlink on here) we put together of some pictures of ideas for attire: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ebjCvX2sPZVBFULeqW8nNXWYDSKZVA-1dA57R_C7eYQ/edit?usp=sharing
The venue is about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car away from Barcelona. We will have a bus for everyone that leaves from El Palauet Barcelona (Pg. de Gràcia, 113, Gràcia, 08008 Barcelona, Spain). Please be at El Palauet by 2:10pm. The bus will leave by 2:25pm. Once the event ends at midnight, there will be a bus to take everyone back to El Palauet in Barcelona. All of the hotels on our recommended hotel list are within walking distance of the bus pick-up and drop-off point.
If you are taking the bus, you should arrive to El Palauet by 2:10pm. The bus will arrive to the wedding venue by 4pm and the ceremony will start at 4:30pm. If you are not taking the bus, please arrive to the wedding venue by 4pm. There will be refreshments and snacks waiting for you prior to the ceremony.
When filling out your RSVP, there is an opportunity to note if you would like the vegan and/or gluten-free option. If you have any allergies, please text Sabrina and Peter so we can relay to the chef.
While we’d love to be able to invite everyone to the wedding, unfortunately that is not always possible. Please be sure to check your invite to see if you are able to bring a guest; if you have any questions or are uncertain, please let us know! Whether it is here or elsewhere, we cannot wait to meet your better half!
There are a few suggestions we have: 1. Your phone company likely has $10/day rates which would be the easiest way to maintain your phone plan while abroad 2. There is wifi in the hotels and at cafes, so you can rely on wifi only if needed. 3. Peter has used an app called Airalo before where you get a digital sim card that will allow you to have cell service for ~$5 for a week or so
Yes! We have created a google map of some of our favorite places in Barcelona as well as the events during the wedding weekend. You can find the map here (unfortunately we couldn't hyperlink!): https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=13YFp1MPx-aTpXTrUMaCexGVDkpncgbk&usp=sharing
Yes, they do! However, it's a great chance to brush up on those high school Spanish skills and interact with locals! They also speak Catalan in Barcelona. So if you already know Spanish, you can attempt to learn Catalan during your stay!
