One of our favorite places to wander and shop, Ben Thanh Market is a bustling Saigon institution where you can find everything from coffee and souvenirs to tailor-made clothing and Ryan's favorite guilty pleasure—replica watches.
Saigon Central Post Office
Designed by Gustave Eiffel and located just steps from Book Street and Notre Dame Cathedral, this beautifully preserved landmark is one of the city's most iconic examples of French colonial architecture.
Book Street
Yen's favorite street in Saigon, this charming pedestrian lane is lined with bookstores, cafés, and small shops. It's the perfect place to enjoy a coffee, browse for books, and escape the bustle of the city for an hour or two.
Ben Nghe Street Food
When the sun goes down, Ben Nghe Night Market comes alive. Grab a cold beer, wander between more than 20 food stalls, and sample everything from grilled seafood, bánh mì, and Vietnamese barbecue to tacos, burgers, and Indian curries. It's a great spot to share a few dishes, people-watch, and soak up the energy of Ho Chi Minh City after dark—all without breaking the bank ($2-12 USD). Most vendors accept credit cards, but it's always a good idea to carry a little cash just in case.
Karaoke ICOOL
Yen's family's go-to karaoke spot! No Vietnamese required. If you can find the song on YouTube, you can definitely sing it. Fair warning: once the microphones come out, don't expect to leave anytime soon.
Phở Hòa Pasteur
Pho is Yen's all-time favorite food, and this longtime local favorite comes highly recommended by her family and our wedding planning team. If you're only having one bowl of pho in Saigon, make it this one.
Cơm Tấm Ba Ghiền
One of Ryan's favorite Vietnamese dishes is cơm tấm (broken rice), and this Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant is famous for its massive grilled pork chops and generous portions. A bit touristy, but absolutely worth trying.
Ốc Đào
For the adventurous eater, Ốc Đào is a beloved local seafood spot known for its Vietnamese-style snails, shellfish, and bold flavors. Come with friends and order a variety of dishes to share.
