You’d think our love story began in California—where we were both born, raised, and even went to the same high school. But fate had other plans. We didn’t officially meet until a few years later in the good ole city of Waco, Texas, while attending Baylor University. Nicci was a freshman and Ryan was a sophomore when he made his move in true modern-day fashion—by “sliding into Nicci’s DMs.” His pickup line? Something about offering help around campus. Somehow, it worked! Over the next few months, we spent time getting to know each other (and catching up on all those years we somehow missed in high school). Nicci remembers the moment she really started falling for Ryan—after a mishap with his original date plans, we pivoted to a last-minute drive to Buc-ee’s. (If you don’t know Buc-ee’s… come visit Texas, and we’ll show you the magic.) During that drive, we turned the car into a karaoke stage, belting out our favorite songs at the top of our lungs. It’s one of the many ways we balance each other out—Ryan somehow knows every lyric to every song, while Nicci… let’s just say she confidently makes up the ones she doesn’t. From that night on, Nicci knew Ryan was the one—he has a way of turning any moment into something fun, easygoing, and full of love and support. This November marks five years together—filled with Baylor memories, California visits, long-distance stretches, and now, the start of our next chapter together in Dallas.
You might be wondering why we chose to celebrate our big day in Roatán, Honduras. The Etters have been visiting the island for almost 10 years, falling in love with its crystal-clear waters, incredible scuba diving, laid-back culture, and friends who quickly felt like family. Nicci was lucky enough to visit during her first year of dating Ryan and instantly fell for every part of the island. Over the years, Roatán has become a place that’s truly special to both of us and to our relationship. We can’t wait to share the beauty of Roatán’s beaches, its fun culture, and its relaxing energy with all of you! We know traveling for a destination wedding is a big commitment, and we feel so blessed to have your love and support in our lives.
