Things to Do on Long Island!

While Ruth will always maintain that it's Always Cork First and then New York City or Nowhere, Long Island Boy Danny grew up in a wonderful part of the world too! For those looking to make a holiday out of the trip, here are some fun things to do in the area!

Old Bethpage Village Restoration

1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, NY 11804

Our wedding venue is located on the grounds of the Old Bethpage Village Restoration - a recreated 19th Century US village. Take a stroll through the grounds and immerse yourself in the history of Long Island! Be sure to check out the website before visiting - they often host fun events. For example, when we visited the venue to pay our deposit we walked into a WWII reenactment - tanks, explosions, and all!

Museum of American Armor

1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, NY 11804

Also located on the grounds of our wedding venue the museum is home to a huge collection of decommissioned US military machines!

Bethpage State Park

99 Quaker Meeting House Road, Farmingdale, NY 11735

Home of the 2019 PGA Championship and the 2025 Ryder Cup, Bethpage Golf Course is one of the most renowned public courses in the US. Tee times can be reserved on the website for those who might like to play a round. We recommend scheduling in advance as availability will be more limited than usual with preparations for the Ryder Cup underway!

North Fork Wineries

For those with some time to travel, we cannot get enough of the North Fork Wineries! Some of our favorites are linked below:

Jason's Vineyard

1785 Main Road, Jamesport, NY 11947

They often have live music on their outdoor porch - check their website for events!

Harbes Family Farm - Mattituck

715 Sound Avenue, Mattituck, NY 11952

It may be just too early in the season, but Ruth highly recommends their pumpkin pie with a glass of their very own rose!

Jamesport Vineyards | Little Oak Wood Fired Kitchen

New York 25, Jamesport, NY 11947

Make sure to grab one of their wood fire oven pizzas to accompany their delicious wines!

Kontokosta Winery

825 North Road, Greenport, NY 11944

This is a little further out East in the town of Greenport - but a great spot if you are spending an overnight - make sure to swing by the lavender farm nearby

Lavender By the Bay

7540 Main Road, East Marion, NY 11939

Montauk Lighthouse

2000 Old Montauk Highway, Montauk, NY 11954

At the very tip of the South Fork of Long Island you will find the historic Montauk Lighthouse. Montauk, more affectionately known simply as "The End" to New Yorkers, is a quintessential beach town beyond The Hamptons which has maintained its more rustic charm. For those looking to travel more and extend their stay on Long Island, we cannot recommend "The End" enough. The Light House Tour is very informative and the scenery beautiful! Spend a day relaxing at one of the local beaches, and grab a lobster roll at Lobster Roll Montauk (aka LUNCH) or some fried clams at Clam Bar - both located along the Montauk Highway!

Long Beach Boardwalk

Boardwalk, Long Beach, NY 11561

While Long Island is filled with beautiful beaches, Long Beach is Ruth's personal favorite because it features a classic American style beach boardwalk! It is also a quick and easy train ride from the city on a hot summers day - making it her and her gal pals go to spot!

Americana Manhasset

2060 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY 11030

The perfect outdoor mall for anyone looking for some luxury retail therapy!

Tanger Outlets Deer Park

152 The Arches Circle, Deer Park, NY 11729

A great outlet mall for anyone looking for good deals! Irish Guests- bring your passport to get the tax free exemption!

Our venue is located in Nassau County (just about) and there is plenty to explore here!

Discover Long Island

Suffolk County (where Danny grew up) doesn't have it's own tourism site - but Discover Long Island has plenty to offer for both counties!
