Travel Note
Palma is the biggest city on the island; we recommend staying in Palma or the beaches directly west of it, namely ses Illetes and Cala Major (the beaches are a 20 minute taxi or less to central Palma). The airport is just a 10-minute drive to Palma center. If you do not want to stay on the beaches, we recommend the charming Santa Catalina neighborhood in Palma center. Although Mallorca’s most charming villages and beaches are not located in the immediate area of Palma, no point on the island is more than a 1-hour drive from Palma. Palma has an endless array of galleries, restaurants, craft studios, and bars. Wander in any direction within the historical heart and you’ll find bent medieval streets lined with aristocratic townhouses, looming baroque churches, teeming public squares and vibrant bohemian neighborhoods. If you would like an area a bit more relaxed, we'd recommend Sóller or Port de Sóller, about 25 minutes north of Palma.
Travel Note
Although it may be tempting, there's no need to stay at a luxury hotel. Mallorca has many beautiful sights to see, and there are plenty of activities to fill your days. You likely won't be spending much time at the hotel, in fact, you'll most likely only be there to sleep. So our advice is to find an affordable place to stay, and save your euros for fun activities. Please reach out to us if you have questions about where to stay. Rental Car
We recommend linking up with some other wedding guests to rent a car. Many of the most beautiful beaches and villages are 30-45 minutes from Palma. Please watch out for all of the cyclists on the roads! And never drink and drive! All major car rental companies have an office at Palma Airport.
House Or Rental
While there is no shortage of amazing hotels on the island, another option is to rent a villa with other wedding guests in either Port de Sóller, near Palma or somewhere in the middle of the island.
Flight
Barcelona Airport is a great airport option if you are planning on seeing more of Europe aside from Mallorca. We recommend staying a couple of nights in Barcelona. From Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca you can either choose the ferry which takes 6.5 hours and cost around €60, or you can fly with Vueling. Flights from BCN to PMI are as low as €25 and takes 55 minutes.
Flight
If you are coming from the US, check out Iberian Airlines, as they operate direct flights from several major airports in the US, such as Los Angeles and Miami.
Flight
PMI is the only airport on Mallorca. Since our guests will come from around the world, please see below for some tips on how to get there. For guests arriving from Sweden: RyanAir and SAS flies direct to PMI. For those who can, we recommend coming for a week (Sunday-Sunday) and make this in to a holiday. Rent a car with your friends or family and check out all of the beautiful things Mallorca has to offer! For guests arriving from the UK: British Airways flies direct to PMI from several major UK airports. For guests arriving from Australia: Well, that is going to be one knackering flight mate! We recommend flying to a bigger city in Europe for a day or two and then continue to Palma after getting in to the European time zone. For guests arriving from the US: We have listed a couple of options (Madrid or Barcelona), but if you prefer coming straight to Palma, there will likely be a layover in a major European city such as London, Paris, Zurich, Frankfurt or Amsterdam.
