FAQs

Question

Can I Bring a Guest or Child?

Answer

Guests are not permitted unless you receive direct permission from the bride or groom. While we’ve done our best to include everyone, it’s possible someone may have been unintentionally missed. If you reach out at least 2–5 months in advance, we may be able to accommodate your request. Please understand that we must finalize exact numbers for seating, table settings, and catering. Bringing an unapproved guest or unaccounted-for child may result in not having a seat or sufficient food, as our buffet style dinner is prepared specifically for those who RSVP.

Question

Lodging

Answer

The best lodging options for our guests are in Rapid City, SD. This is the closest city to the reservation with a wide variety of major hotel brands to choose from. It is located about 80 miles from the venue. The Pine Ridge Reservation has limited options for lodging, but there are some options for those who want to stay closer to the venue. 1. Lakota Prairie Ranch Resort A mile from the Lakota Waldorf School, this is the closest lodging option to our ceremony and reception venue. The Lakota Prairie Ranch Resort has a restaurant that serves great comfort foods like burgers and fries and has a breakfast menu. This motel is not for picky travelers as the rooms are dingy and older and have not been recently renovated. A great option for those who want to be close to the venue and don’t mind a more rustic stay. Phone: (605)-455-2233 2. Crossroads Inn, Martin, SD. Closest small town off the reservation. Slightly nicer accommodations than the Lakota Prairie Ranch Resort. 42 miles away from our venue. 102 1st Ave, Martin, Sd 57551 crossroadsinn.net 3. Lodging near badlands national park, 45 miles from venue. For those who want to stay near the national park, there are a few lodging options listed below. Badlands Hotel and campground Cedar pass lodge Circle View Guest Ranch

Question

Is the Pine Ridge Reservation a Safe Place?

Answer

Yes and no, the reservation is extremely large, sparsely populated, and stuggling with elevated rates of widespread poverty. Because of this, there are a few areas that can feel less welcoming. Most visitors have a completely safe and positive experience, but we do want guests to be mindful of their surroundings. If you plan to explore, we kindly ask that you stay on the main roads, visit established businesses, and avoid wandering into unfamiliar neighborhoods. This helps ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable visit while respecting the community and its' people. If you have further questions or want on tips exploring the reservation, contact Rosie or Mike.

Question

Wedding Dress Code?

Answer

Casual attire is still semi-formal despite its name, elevated casual code for outdoor settings, focusing on light fabrics, florals, and comfortable but polished looks (think sundresses, blazers over chinos), but casual also includes broader and relaxed (jeans, tees, polos).
