Question

How will the Strawberry Festival impact my travel plans?

Answer

If you plan to come out to Vashon before Friday afternoon, your travel plans should not be greatly impacted. For those driving, a good rule of thumb is to arrive at the ferry terminal 45-60 minutes before the ferry departs. If you plan to head out to Vashon Friday evening or Saturday morning, the Strawberry Festival may extend ferry wait times by 2 or more hours. WSDOT will often update ferry wait times on the following websites, under the Alerts banner on the right hand side: West Seattle (Fauntleroy; arrives to north end of the island): https://www.wsdot.com/Ferries/Schedule/scheduledetail.aspx?tripdate=20230715&departingterm=9&arrivingterm=22&roundtrip=true Tacoma (Tahlequah; arrives to south end of the island): https://www.wsdot.com/Ferries/Schedule/scheduledetail.aspx?tripdate=20230715&departingterm=16&arrivingterm=21&roundtrip=true

Question

What does transportation look like on Vashon Island?

Answer

Public transit, taxis, and Uber/Lyft are very limited on the island itself. We recommend renting a car if you are traveling in from out-of-town. For guests staying at the Lodges on Vashon, we will have a shuttle service to and from the venue. For guests who are not staying at the Lodges, we will have shuttles running from the off-site parking area to and from the venue. After we collect RSVPs, we will tell you where and when to meet your assigned shuttle for transportation to the wedding venue. We ask that you please arrive 15 minutes before your assigned shuttle departs to avoid delaying the ceremony start time.

Question

What is the wedding dress code?

Answer

Summer chic with comfortable shoes. We emphasize comfortable shoes because the venue has grass, gravel, and uneven surfaces. Guests will need to walk short distances around the property, and we plan to do lots of dancing! We recommend shoes that will be comfortable for the duration of the event.

Question

What will the weather be at the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding will be outdoors. While summer is the best time of year to visit this region, please keep in mind that Pacific Northwest weather can be unpredictable. Even when it's sunny and warm during the day, summer nights can be chilly. Please plan accordingly.

Question

What if I haven't been vaccinated/boosted against COVID-19?

Answer

For the safety of all guests, if you have not been vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19, we ask that you please wear a mask for the duration of the event. Please contact the bride and groom if you have questions or concerns about this requirement.

Question

Will there be a designated smoking area at the venue?

Answer

Due to the increased risk of forest fires during the summer season, we will NOT be allowing smoking anywhere on the property. Thank you for helping keep the bride's family's property free of fire danger!

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Yes! Kids are invited. We just ask that you please include the ages of all children who will be attending when you RSVP.

Question

Will there be childcare at the event?

Answer

We warmly welcome your children to both the ceremony and reception. While we do plan to have a few activities to keep your kiddos busy, we will not be providing childcare. We are happy to provide you with resources for finding a babysitter should you need one!

Question

Will there be a place I can nurse or pump at your wedding?

Answer

We will have a private place for anyone who may need to pump or breastfeed during this event. If you anticipate needing to do so, please contact Rose before the big day so she can tell you where this will be.

Question

What do you recommend doing on the island?

Answer

Please see the "Things To Do" section of our website.
