Yes and no. The wedding and reception are at the same destination: UC Berkeley Botanical Garden, but they are at two different spots within the venue. Check out the Venue Location tab for more info and a map. Scroll down for further information on mobility access.
While we are not able to invite children to our wedding and reception due to space constraints, we can recommend babysitting services for the evening of the wedding and a kid-friendly guide to the Bay Area curated by Lindsey (under the travel tab) if you bring your family for the weekend!
Please wear your most comfortable dressed up party clothes! The wedding ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside, and the reception will be mostly indoors (with A/C if we need it) with an outside deck. End of September in the Bay is summertime, so expect a warm evening, but when in doubt, light layers are the way to go. The redwood grove has paved and unpaved paths, so stilettos are ill-advised. It's also Berkeley, the land of natural fabrics and ergonomic shoes, so embrace comfort like the locals.
For your destination: UC Botanical Gardens with the address of 200 Centennial Dr Berkeley, CA 94720. You can also punch in Botanical Garden Lot and you will be dropped off at the parking lot rather than the garden gate. To get to the Mather Redwood Grove, you will need to walk up through the parking lot to the signs for Redwood Grove. If you have additional concerns or questions, please reach out to Roger and Lindsey.
Our dinner reception will have both meat and vegetarian options, as well as alcohol and non-alcoholic options. If you have additional restrictions, please reach out to Roger and Lindsey directly so we don't inadvertently send you to the ER or the bathroom for the duration of the evening.
Check out the Things To Do tab!
Yes! The wedding venue has a parking lot that we will have sole use of (with ~50 spaces) that is immediately to the left of the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden entrance. Mather Redwood Grove is just beyond it, so the parking lot is in between the ceremony and reception. As for parking at your hotel/AirBnB/houseboat/random friend from college whose couch you're crashing on: ya on ya own. Mind the street parking restriction signs, but feel free to ask Lindsey for stories on disputing parking tickets at the reception!
Nope. There is a flat, paved path into the redwood grove down to the amphitheater. There are stairs down to the amphitheater rows, but if you cannot traverse the stairs, please let an usher know and they can help you to a more accessible seat. The ceremony seating will be cushions in a stone amphitheater, and then walking across the parking lots (glamorous) to the UC Botanical Gardens for the cocktail hour and reception. There is also a ramp from the parking lot to the crosswalk for the Botanical Garden. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Roger and Lindsey!
Yes you can, prior to the wedding! The gardens open at 10am and close at 5pm, and the ceremony starts at 5:30, so you are more than welcome to pay an entrance fee (Adults 18-65: $18, Seniors: $12, last admittance is 4:30pm) and roam around prior to the ceremony. Unfortunately we do not get free rein to roam during the reception, you KNOW some drunk groomsman 10 years ago likely fell into a cactus and ruined it for the rest of us.
