Malco Summer Drive-In
The Drive-In is a great place for a date or family night out! Each screen shows a double feature, and they have showings varying from family favorites to comedies to horror films! We load up the car, with Kiwi, and bring all of our favorite snacks and comfy blankets!
Crystal Shrine Grotto | Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery
This is one of our absolute favorite hidden gems in Memphis! Located in Memorial Park Cemetery is a hidden underground grotto, with crystals dripping all around and religious art featured on every wall. It is one of the most beautiful places either of us has seen!
Pink Palace Museum
The Pink Palace is a MUST, especially if you’ve never been to Memphis! You can learn all about the history of our city in this museum!
Lichterman Nature Center
Part of the Pink Palace Family of Museums, Lichterman has an amazing display and location to observe the wildlife in Memphis. You can see enclosures with anything from spiders to turtles to axolotls, and enjoy a picnic with a view of plenty of vegetation! Just be careful of the geese!
Overton Square
Rooted in the heart of Midtown, Overton Square has plenty of shopping and restaurants, including where we had our first date- Babalu! Our absolute favorites are The Local, Kwik Chek, Huey’s, Frida’s, Lafayette’s, and LBOE! We also recommend Wizard’s Smoke and Gift Shop! They have so many awesome products and gifts for you to take back home with you!
Metal Museum
This museum is SO cool! There are so many beautiful works of art and metal sculptures to enjoy. The buildings that house the displays are all closely connected by the prettiest gardens and yard art!
Brooks Museum
The Brooks is a HUGE art museum, located close to the Memphis Zoo! You could truly spend all day exploring its various rooms and displays, including many from local artists, some of which are still in high school!
Fire Museum of Memphis
The Fire Museum is an AMAZING interactive museum and kids will LOVE it! It’s in a perfect spot downtown, and it’s a pretty quick walk-through, so once you’re done there’s plenty of areas to explore nearby with your family!
National Civil Rights Museum
We both love the National Civil Rights Museum. It is full of so much rich history of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and how it affected our city specifically. You end the tour by walking though Martin Luther King Jr.’s final room at the Lorraine Motel. It is extremely moving and an inspirational visit!
AutoZone Park
If you’re planning in advance, the Summer is a perfect time to book tickets to a Redbird’s game! Be sure to check their schedule for themed family nights or special celebrity guests!
Agricenter International
The Agricenter always has Farmer’s Markets and produce available! Check their schedule for flea markets, sunflowers, and the pick-your-own strawberry patch!
Jones Orchard
Jones Orchard is a local farmer’s market in Millington, with jams, jellies, and famous homegrown peaches! Pick up some DELICIOUS produce!
Shelby Farms Park
Shelby Farms has a variety of different parks and activities, including restaurants, dog parks, and paddle boats!
Memphis Zoo
The Memphis Zoo is so fun for families or for a day-time date! You can ride and feed camels, see stingrays up close, or pop up into the meerkat habitat! Go into the darkroom to view the animals of the night, or see free-range chickens and ducks walk around on the farm!
Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid
We were a bit skeptic of the idea of a Bass Pro in the Pyramid, but it’s actually a really cool space, especially if you’re looking to go home with souvenirs! They have restaurants, fish swimming around, and an elevator up to the very top of the building with a beautiful view of the city!
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
If you’re looking for a place to attend mass during your visit, we highly recommend our city’s Cathedral!
Ciao Bella Italian Grill
Some of the BEST food we’ve ever had! We visited for our 3rd anniversary and were instantly obsessed!
Milk Dessert Bar
Located right behind our house, Milk Dessert Bar is the BEST dessert in Memphis, in our opinion!
Brookhaven Pub & Grill
This place is so FUN, for a night out! They have arcade games and darts, or you can just sit and chill with some friends, to eat and drink together!
Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park
If you’re into hiking, this State Park is perfect! There are multiple trails, depending on what length you’re comfortable with, and plenty of areas to picnic!
