It was the summer of 2020 and both Robin and Brian had virtual internships at Target. Robin in her childhood bedroom in Illinois and Brian in his college apartment in Wisconsin. Target’s Jewish Employee network hosted a virtual call with the interns to introduce themselves and explain how they help curate Target’s merchandise as it relates to Jewish traditions. Naturally, Robin and Brian were less interested in hearing about the Hanukkah assortment and more interested in scoping out who the other Jewish interns were. Turns out, Robin and Brian were both drawn to each other on that call, but of course, never said anything or interacted at all that summer. Brian and Robin both accepted full time jobs at Target after college with plans to move to Minneapolis, MN after graduation. Brian moved during the summer of 2021 with Robin not moving until the spring of 2022. When Brian moved to MN, he knew a couple friends from college, which grew into a larger friend group full of new Target employees, fellow Wisconsin grads, and other mutual friends. Some of those friends also knew Robin from the Target internship as well as college. Brian and Robin both knew that they would soon be in the same friend group, and after seeing each other on various dating apps, never did anything as to prevent an awkward first meeting. Soon enough in March of 2022, Robin moved to Minneapolis and they both met officially at a St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The two hit it off quickly, and at every social gathering, they both naturally gravitated towards each other. A strong friendship was built, but the relationship did not start right away. The two were nervous not to mess up friend group dynamics and needed more time to get to know each other. In December of 2022, Brian took Robin to his company holiday party and that kicked off the weekly dates. After two months, Brian and Robin officially started dating on February 3rd, 2023. (2.3.23). Weekly gym and cooking date nights turned daily after moving in together. Trying new restaurants, traveling to see friends, hiking, and watching sports (whether it’s professionals… or Robin being the only fan on Brian’s Sunday night hockey games) are a few of their favorite activities. Just over two years later, Brian proposed to Robin on April 5th, 2025 (4.5.25) in Duluth, MN at Tettegouche State Park. This was a place that Robin and Brian enjoyed going to with their friends and Lake Superior created a beautiful backdrop for the day. They made the 3-hour drive starting at 7am, proposed at 11am, and after staying for some pictures, drove back to downtown Minneapolis. Instead of the “dinner plans” that were made, Brian surprised Robin with an engagement party at their apartment building, surrounded by friends and family, some of whom flew in for the event. *The two of us are excited to celebrate our story and begin our married life together with you in December 2026 (12.13).* In case you can’t tell, Brian has trouble remembering dates and wanted to make it easy.
