Just 4 miles north up Hwy20 from Grass Valley. Search for Broad Street to find downtown Nevada City. There are lots of eateries and shops to browse and historical sites to see.
Truckee, Squaw Valley & Lake Tahoe
An hour east is Truckee, CA, and another 20 minutes south is Tahoe City. Take Hwy 20 to I-80 and follow the signs. Lots of hiking around Squaw Valley and spots to hang out near the lake!

Empire Mine State Park
The Empire Mine was the shining diamond of the setting of the gold rush, producing 5.8 million ounces of gold during its operation between 1850 and 1956. There are 367 miles worth of shafts and tunnels, most of them abandoned and flooded. The mine may have been closed long ago, but it still a tourist attraction.
