Robin & Rebecca played on the same co-ed soccer team for at least two seasons before they even knew each other's name. One night after a championship, penalty-kick winning game, the Silver Snakes were celebrating at the league bar where Robin impressed Rebecca with his stellar beer-pong skills. The team later continued the celebration at a dance club, where Robin took note that Rebecca had no fear walking into the club in her Xoso t-shirt and soccer shorts. They later found that their love for the outdoors, craft brew, and each other would make them inseparable.
Robin was planning to pop the question at the Shin-Family-Christmas getaway in Bodega Bay. COVID did its thing, quarantining some and restricted travel for others. We arrived at the tidepools that morning, Rebecca expecting to just hike around with the family that made it down to San Diego. The tides were high that morning and the family was very adamant on "this isn't going to work". In agreeance, Rebecca also didn't want to dodge in-coming waves as they walked and explored. So the family jumped back in the cars and went to La Jolla Coves. Walking on the cliffs, SIL Stephanie found a great backdrop to stop and take family photos. Asking Robin to be her test subject, then adding Rebecca to the first set of pictures. Lucky for them, the sun was so bright, Rebecca couldn't see the 4 iPhones attempting to take this one picture. "Ok, on the count of 3, do a funny picture". Rebecca asks Robin "Are we funny?" On the count of 3, Robin dropped to one knee and asked Rebecca to marry him. Caught on video with Mom & brother watching on FaceTime, technology allowed us to share our engagement moment with our loved ones near and far. Special thank you to Stephanie and the rest of the Shin family for making the moment as special as it was in the strange times we are in. #rrshin2021 #SoonToBeShin
