Travel Note

Booking Flights

Please book your flights as soon as possible to ensure you can travel on the dates you require. Flights to the UK from NC are overnight so you would need to allow for that in your travel plans. Our wedding is a Thursday, so we would recommend flying Tuesday at the latest which would get you in the country on Wednesday.

Glasgow International Airport

Glasgow International Airport is the closest large airport to Sarah's home town, Ayr. Roughly (43.8 Miles) We recommend our American guests fly into this airport.

This hotel is within walking distance to Sarah's house and the town center. Only a short 5 minute taxi to our venue.

This hotel is in an amazing location. Right on the beach front, walking distance to the town center and only a short taxi ride to our venue. Sarah also used to work here:)

House Or Rental

Air BNB

If you are planning on making a vacation out of your trip to our wedding, we recommend that you rent an Air BnB. You would be able to come and go as you please and have enough room to relax in larger groups/ families. There are some wonderful options in my home town, Ayr. You may also search in Alloway, Prestwick, and Troon. Please book as soon as possible to be certain you can get nice accommodation to fit your groups needs. Feel free to ask us if you have any questions or concerns about location.

Currency Conversion

The currency used in Scotland is Pounds Sterling. This currency is used in Great Britain (Scotland and England). However, if you are travelling to Ireland or mainland Europe, the currency will be Euro. Sarah's advice would be to shop around for the best exchange rate. Wells Fargo, currency exchange at the airport and even Tesco ( British supermarket) all have currency exchange options.

Cell Phone Usage

Be sure to check with your cell phone provider before leaving the country if they can provide you with a plan for international usage. Another option would be to make sure your phone is "unlocked". This means that your phone is able to have another networks sim card. You can then buy a British networks sim card. Orange, O2, or three network would be my recommendation. These can be purchased in town at phone stores or at Tesco (UK walmart/target).
