We were both in graduate school at East Carolina University. Our paths could have crossed many times and in many ways but it was not meant to be until Summer of 2017. We met at a Karaoke barin Greenville, NC. Raleigh, Ian's younger brother, and I worked together and there was a staff end of summer night out planned. Ian decided he would tag along, especially after he was told "there was a hot Scottish Girl he should meet." Sparks were flying and after being asked three times throughout the night, eventually I gave in and gave Ian my number. There were a few Game of Thrones dates, and sparks were flying. Ian stepped it up and after a few home cooked meals, sunset tailgate picnics, and Uma working he magic as a wing man to win over my heart. Finally, we had "the date". In the middle of a lake, with Uma on his kayak, Ian asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes, and we continued our adventure together.
We both knew we were all in very quickly and began to build a wonderful life together. We graduated from ECU, moved to a new city together, celebrated holidays and went on family vacations. However, after 2 Years Ian had not been able to make the trip across the pond to Scotland to see my home and meet the rest of my family and friends. Thanksgiving break 2019, we embarked on the trip of a lifetime. Little did I know, Ian had some big secret addition to our itinerary that he had arranged with my Mum. November 25th, 2019 on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, Ian got down on one knee in front of my whole family and asked me to marry him. Lots of happy tears and "thank you's" later, we were engaged. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you in Scotland!
