Molly and Robert met on the dating app Hinge, like any good San Francisco-based Millennials, in late August 2018. After weeks of exchanging lighthearted banter, Robert finally mustered up the courage to ask Molly out on a date to 21st Amendment Brewery near Oracle Park one rainy Wednesday in early October. (oh, that's not how *I* remember it. I seem to recall asking again... and again... and again... but somehow Molly always seemed to be out of town or have another social enagament...) The date, which only lasted an hour, was cut short when Robert had to "leave to because something broke at work." Molly, unfamiliar with the demands of site reliability engineering, thought he was just blowing her off. "Oh well," she thought, "On to the next!" Much to her surprise, Robert actually had to leave early to handle something he had broken at work just a few hours before; he texted her later that night apologizing for his abrupt leave, and asked if she was available that Sunday to make it up to her. (I was telling the truth! Honest! I might've had to leave in a bit of a panic, heheh) On Sunday, October 6, their second date, Molly and Robert actually got to know each other over rollerskating, a first kiss in Golden Gate Park near the Conservatory of Flowers, BBQ, and ice cream in Dolores Park. They talked about their desire to travel to Barcelona, their shared dreams of having a family, and their obsession with fancy cheese and modestly priced wine. Once the stage was set, there was no turning back.
