You may not have heard of the hotel, but you've likely heard the lore surrounding the institution it sits atop - the Clermont Lounge, Atlanta's longest continually running strip club. Officially opened in 1965 (though first mentions of a night club in the basement of the hotel date back to 1947 and the Anchorage Club), the inimitable Anthony Bourdain popularized it in a 2013 episode of The Layover. The perfect sort of grimy. Everyone should experience it at least once. The hotel itself was nearly condemned back in 2009, but a group of savvy investors with keen foresight purchased the property and turned it into a boutique location, fit with a retro 1950s/60s aesthetic, rooftop bar, incredible ground floor restaurant (Tiny Lou's, rented out by Jay-Z and Beyonce for the Super Bowl), and the Lobby Bar, a dark little cocktail nook. Marriot Marquis

Often referred to as the "Pregnant Building" or the "Coca Cola Building" because of its unique architecture, the Atlanta Marriott Marquis is famous for its stunning and enormous atrium, which soars to 470 feet. At the time of the hotel's completion in 1985, this atrium was the largest in the world. The building boasts 5 restaurants, 4 lounges, and with 1674 rooms it is the largest hotel in the southeast. While less impressive than the Marquis, this hotel is slightly more affordable and was given landmark status by the city of Atlanta in 1990.
