How we Met

A Rabbit and a Frenchie Walk Into a Bar...

April 20th, 2014. Easter Sunday. Braves vs. Mets at Citi Field. 1:12pm first pitch. 47 degrees F. Rob is in his seat. Rob has been in his seat for close to an hour. Rob does not miss first pitch. Rob is also trying to force the arrival of Spring and is wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Thus, Rob is on his third beer. Sarah went to mass this morning. Sarah is now on the train to the stadium. Sarah's friends have arrived at the game, many of whom Rob does not know. Sarah has no concept of time and finally arrives at her seat sometime during the 2nd inning. Sarah's friends are none too happy at her tardiness, but Rob, having never met Sarah and knowing nothing of her, is perturbed not at all. When Sarah arrives at her seat, Rob sees her and thinks "holy [insert expletive of choice], she is beautiful!" Sarah is wearing a flat bill A-Town Down hat in classic Braves colors. Rob thinks this is very cool. Rob thinks this is intimidatingly cool, if he's being honest. But Rob is cool, and so that's what he plays it. Rob will later find out that this hat is also signed by Big Boi. Rob will chastise Sarah for ever wearing it anywhere instead of having it encased in plexiglass as if it were the Hope Diamond. Rob will also later find out that Sarah is, while not entirely un-cool, a total goober. This will bode well for Rob. A la Curtis Granderson, the Mets get a walk-off win in the 14th inning. Rob is incensed. Sarah could not care less. It being Easter, Sarah decides to invite everyone to her place while she whips up a quick gourmet meal. Rob is still in shorts and t-shirt. Rob is very cold. Rob lives in the East Village. Sarah lives in Crown Heights. Rob & Sarah live far apart. But Sarah is very pretty, and Rob very much wants to be around her. And so Rob goes to Easter dinner. Sarah is very happy that she invited him. Rob is very happy that he went. The rest, as they say, is playing out presently - and what a wonderful story it is turning out to be.
