Things To Do in Portland

Here are some proper Portland places that we recommend you check out while you're here.

Mount Tabor Amphitheater

Portland, OR 97215

This is extinct volcano where the magic will happen

QuarterWorld Arcade

4811 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, OR 97215
, (503) 548-2923

An epic barcade, but with a Tesla coil music show on Tuesdays and Sundays! We've rented pinball machines monthly from here since the start of the pandemic.

Ground Kontrol

115 Northwest 5th Avenue, Portland, OR 97209
, (503) 796-9364

Another epic barcade; lots of pinball and more.

Washington Park

4033 Southwest Canyon Road, Portland, OR 97221
, (503) 319-0999

The Rose Garden will be really nice this time of year.

OMSI

1945 Southeast Water Avenue, Portland, OR 97214
, (503) 797-4000

You know, for kids. And adults, too; OMSI is a pretty great science museum.

Movie Madness Video

4320 Southeast Belmont Street, Portland, OR 97215
, (503) 234-4363

Behold, one of the last video rental shops in existence! Full with its own, detailed classification system and museum of Hollywood movie costumes and props.

Bete-Lukas | Ethiopian Restaurant

2504 Southeast 50th Avenue, Portland, OR 97206
, (503) 477-8778

Our favorite Ethiopian food in town; so good. Only open for dinner, though.

Thai Peacock Restaurant

219 Southwest 9th Avenue, Portland, OR 97205
, (503) 228-2310

If you're downtown and want some good Thai food this is the place.

Dwaraka Indian Cuisine

3962 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, OR 97214
, (503) 230-1120

Amazing Indian food with a lunch buffet. * *lunch buffet may not exist due to Covid-times

Olé Olé

2137 East Burnside Street, Portland, OR 97214
, (503) 230-1132

They know us here by "bean and cheese chimichanga and two veggie tacos." And there's an old-school Portland dive bar across the street, the Standard, where there is pinball.

McMenamins Bagdad Theater & Pub

3702 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, OR 97214
, (503) 236-9234

They just don't make theaters like this anymore. Huge screen, balcony seating and you can even sip on beer while you watch.

The Freakybuttrue Peculiarium and Museum

2234 Northwest Thurman Street, Portland, OR 97210
, (503) 227-3164

Neither of us have actually been here yet, so if you're going please tell us and we will gladly tourist with you.

Genies Cafe

1101 Southeast Division Street, Portland, OR 97202
, (503) 445-9777

Great breakfast spot but go early or face a potentially long wait.

Pine State Biscuits | Division

1100 Southeast Division Street, Portland, OR 97202
, (503) 477-6605

There are many of these nom-nom shrines to gluten around town but this one is ours. It is across the street from Genie's at the event horizon of weekend brunch lines. You are advised to go early to this or any brunch place.

Powell's City of Books

1005 West Burnside Street, Portland, OR 97209
, (800) 878-7323

Fuck Amazon, shop Powell's.

Dots Cafe

2521 Southeast Clinton Street, Portland, OR 97202
, (503) 235-0203

A Portland dive bar institution. The drinks are strong, food is decent, and minors can hang out with you in restaurant half. You'll have to go across the street to the Clinton Street Pub for pinball (but don't eat there).

Farma

916 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, OR 97214
, (503) 206-4357

As you will find out, you can't throw a rock without hitting a cannabis dispensary in Portland but this one is pretty great (cash only, grams not eighths, and sorry kids, 21+). Even if you don't smoke, a legal weed shop is a sight to see...and smell. When in Rome?
