If you are into Religious landmarks, this would be it. Sitting at the highest peak in Cartagena is a Catholic Cathedral boasting history and a mountaintop views. Tours are available online. Please set aside 3-4hrs for this event if you plan on sightseeing this location.
San Felipe de Barajas Fort
Once a Military fort to protect the country from pirates and invaders. Now a historical sightseeing treasure with views and a restaurant located to the far side. One of Caratagena's most popular places to see. You can see this landmark with or without a tour guide (available at the checkin booth). English speaking guides are available. Set aside 1-2 hrs and highly recommended to visit no later than 10am if you are sensitive to direct heat for prolonged periods. Sneakers are a must and must be able to walk up steep hills of the fort if you plan to visit.
La Serrezuela Mall
Cartagena's own shopping mall located on the outskirts of the walled city. Most places inside accept american credit cards. This mall is built around a historic bullfighting colliseum that you can walk around too, which is a sigh to see within itself.
Barrio Getsemaní Cartagena Bolívar
Located inside the walled city is this downtown area full of vibrant colors, art and nightlife. Tons of low cost pubs, bars, eateries where many have limited seating outside to enjoy the nightlife. Very safe to walk around at night but if you want to purchase art or souvenirs, I recommend walking around with one of my family members or us to help negotiate for you on your behalf.
