Exploring on the Property

Exploring on the Property

Idlewild Ridge offers access to Pikes Peak National Wilderness Area where you can hike, bike, look for gemstones, and explore the front range! On the property you can find several fire-pits for roasting marshmallows in the evening, grills for barbecuing, and even a shooting range if you are so inclined. Our group will have access to the property from 8am on Friday, 9/4 - 11am on Monday, 9/7, so you are able to take advantage of any of these activities during this time.

The closest town the venue at twenty minutes away, Woodland Park offers small-town mountain charm with views of Pikes Peak along with local dining, shops, and lots of activity. Here you will find the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, access to Mueller State Park and more. If you are in town on Friday be sure to check out the Woodland Park Farmers Market or live music at our favorite brewery with views of Pikes Peak, Paradox Brewing.

Eleven Mile Canyon

Less than five minutes from the venue, Eleven Mile Canyon is a great place for an afternoon picnic, fishing, or short hike. The canyon itself is worth a drive but if you take Eleven Mile Canyon Rd about 30 minutes South you will run into Eleven Mile State Park, a beautiful lake and beach area with access to fishing, boating, and over five miles of trails for hiking and biking.

Cripple Creek is a historic mining town turned casino destination, offering gambling, dining, and entertainment on Main Street just thirty minuets from the venue. Along the way take in the beautiful mountain views and stop to see "Rita the Rock Planter", one of the famous 20-ft trolls made from recycled wood found around the world from artist Thomas Dambo.

Garden of the Gods is a free wildlife area that offers easy hikes, great views, and unforgettable red rock formations. Located only 40 mins from the venue, it is a must see if you have time. This is an iconic Colorado landmark and is very popular so go early or late to beat the crowds and catch sunrise or sunset on the rocks!

About 40 minutes from the venue, Manitou Springs is a quintessential mountain town with seven natural springs flowing year-round that you can sample as you explore. Climb the Manitou Incline, explore the Manitou Penny arcade, check out the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, or simply wander the charming downtown shops.

Pike's Peak is a short forty minute drive from the venue. Nicknamed "America's Mountain", Pikes Peak is a classic Colorado 14,000ft mountain that you hike, drive or take a cog railway to the top of. At the peak is the Summit House where you can find the only donuts in the world made at this elevation. If you plan on taking the train up make sure to book tickets ahead of time and dress accordingly, September on the summit can be freezing and windy!

Located 1 hr 30 mins away, Salida offers access to some of the best hiking in the area. Salida sits at the base of the collegiate peaks, a range that features many of Colorado's iconic 14'ers, and hosts many great restaurants, shops, and even surfing on the Arkansas River. Even though this is a bit of a drive, it is one of our favorite places in the state and worth a visit if you have the time.
