Driving up Highway 6 to North Truro and Kalmar Village will blow your mind. Salt marshes, quaint little beach shacks, roadside lobster shops, and New England charm await you! Summers that we’ve spent here have been drenched in tasty cocktails and astoundingly good seafood. Here's what you need to know to be best prepared for the entire weekend.
Question

What should I bring for my cabin?

Answer

Here’s a checklist of things we always bring along with us that help make your cottage feel like home away from home. NOTE: There is a daily turndown with fresh towels. If you have allergies, maybe bring your own stuff, but otherwise, linens are taken care of. • Cooler • Beach chairs • Beach towels • Games (we’ll have a bunch, but feel free to bring your favorites!) • Poncho/rain gear • Sweats / sweaters / jackets for nighttime (we’re literally on the beach, so it can get cool at night) • Bug spray and sunscreen • Insulated thermos for cocktails on the go • A big blanket for movie night • Shampoo/conditioner/body wash (the offering they have is slim) • Hair dryer (they don't have one in most cabins) • Dish sponge and dish soap • Paper towels (bring enough for your whole stay!) • Phone charger • Portable speaker (if you have one - great for the beach / cabin)

Question

Does my cabin have a kitchen?

Answer

Each cottage at Kalmar is equipped with a functional kitchenette. That means refrigerator, stove, and charcoal grill out front. All cabins have plates, silverware, glasses, and some basic pots and pans. If you are the type that is pumped to be in shellfish country, we encourage you to cook to your heart’s desire! If you’d rather leave the cooking to the pros, we recommend visiting our favorite spots in in Provincetown. There is a shuttle bus that leaves about every 15 minutes from Kalmar that will drop you in the heart of town for $2. Everything is super close, and we highly recommend spending some time cruising Commercial Street for some eclectic shopping, drinking, and eating. (See "Eating & Drinking").

Question

I, like Kevin, love to cook. What should I bring for my cabin kitchen as back-up?

Answer

Everyone knows Kevin is damn good in the kitchen. Given how awesome the seafood is, it’s best to keep it simple, but for those of you that really want to do it right, he'd recommend throwing the following in the back of the car as well to make sure your kitchen game is tight. •Sharp knives •Grill tools (or at least a pair of tongs) •Grill basket •Lobster pot (or stock pot) and lobster tools, oyster knife •Non-stick pan (for eggs, yo) •Aluminum foil, baggies •A hand towel or two •PLENTY of BUTTER •Kosher salt

Question

Can I bring my kids? How about my dog or cat?

Answer

We love your kids. Please bring them if you would like! We also love your pets, but Kalmar is unfortunately not pet-friendly. They are only letting us bring Bowie and Pappy because it's our wedding and they already are acquainted. SORRY :(

Question

Talk to me about food & drink on Wednesday and Thursday.

Answer

Wednesday: If you're arriving Wednesday, it's a good day to grocery shop for the weekend (see "Eating & Drinking"). No formal meals are planned this day, but we'll be meeting at our favorite spot for lobster rolls - Arnold's - around 6pm (see "Schedule") if you can make it! Thursday: For those arriving Thursday afternoon, we’re gonna welcome you with the “Watch My Dive” Pool Party at 3pm! Frozen drinks, beer, and the famous P-Town Wiener Bar will be on us. From there, we’ll move to the lawn around 8:30 for Movie Night. In between these two activities is a great opportunity to scoot to town to pick up supplies for the cottage if you arrive Thursday instead of Wednesday. As for dinner Thursday night, we'll be having one big old BBQ on the lawn at Kalmar (see "Schedule"). Please BYO for your own cabin! For movie night: we’ll have some cocktails and a keg, but it never hurts to have reinforcements. For Dune Boogie: bring a flask-full of your favorite hooch.

Question

Talk to me about Food & Drink on Friday.

Answer

Breakfast & Lunch: If the weather cooperates, we’ll be leading the charge out to get Beachy for the day. Plan to bring snacks and drinks along with you (Alcohol isn’t technically allowed on the beach, but plastic cups and thermoses are). Our favorite sandwich shops are listed on the "Eating & Drinking" tab. Dinner: Some of you will be stuck with us at the rehearsal dinner. For the rest of you, this is your chance to go hog wild in Provincetown. See a Cabaret Show, have an epic lobster dinner at the famous Lobster Pot (get there early- no reservations!), or have another beachfront cookout at Kalmar. We’ll all meet back up at 8:30 at the Governor Bradford for Drag Queen Karaoke where you will be able to drink to your heart's desire.

Question

Talk to me about Food & Drink on Saturday and Sunday.

Answer

Saturday Breakfast and Lunch: The Portuguese were early settlers in P-Town, and there’s a tasty Portuguese bakery in town that makes a mean Linguica, egg, and cheese Sammy. Otherwise make sure you fortify for the long night ahead (recommended spots in "Eating & Drinking") , cuz' after 3pm you are all ours (see "Schedule"). Sunday Brunch: Kristian Rex will be serving up brunch for all who desire it on Sunday morning before we say our fond farewells (see "Schedule").
