Question

What is the altitude of Estes Park? What is altitude sickness? How do you prevent altitude sickness? What to do if you have altitude sickness?

Answer

Estes Park is nestled at a comfortable altitude of 7,522 feet (2,293 meters) above sea level, but some of the popular destinations around it are even higher. Altitude sickness while in Estes Park is rare as it often sets in around 8,000 feet. However, you’ll experience its effects much faster if you ascend too quickly and don’t give your body enough time to adjust to the higher altitude. Stay hydrated. Fluid loss normally occurs during the acclimatization process, so you need to drink lots of water to remain properly hydrated. Seriously, we can't stress how important it is to stay hydrated.
