Absolutely! We love children and welcome them at the Mass and the reception. There is no "cry room" in the Cathedral, but you may exit out the doors to either side in the back if needed.
No. No phones or electronics are allowed in the Cathedral. This is an "unplugged" wedding. Please keep your cell phones (and any other electronic devices) in your vehicle. The Mass is reverent and glorious. Distractions like cell phones vibrating (or worse, ringing!) intrude upon the experience of the Mass. There will be a photographer there to capture the events of the day. Please disconnect and leave the temptation of your cell phone in your vehicle. You are welcome to take photos and video during the reception!
Yes! Our colors are garnet, gold, and black! You do not have to wear these colors but you are welcome to if that helps narrow down your wardrobe choices.
The Ordinariate is the branch of the Anglican church that has come back into communion with Rome under Pope Benedict XVI in 2011. Our Nuptial Mass (the wedding ceremony) will look very similar to many Catholic Masses that some of you may have attended. For others, this will be entirely new. Please read through your program and follow along as best you can. You can expect the entire event to last about 90 minutes. For those Catholics who are properly disposed to receive the Eucharist, you are welcome to receive Communion at the end of Mass. For those Catholics who are not properly disposed to receive Our Lord or for those who are not Catholic, please make an act of Spiritual Communion from your pews. Many more details and guidelines for the Mass will be available in your program guide. Please plan to arrive early (1:40pm) so you can read through it. For you liturgical nerds out there, you can check out this PDF that details the Ordinariate marriage rite: https://ordinariate.net/documents/resources/AC_Marriage_Rite.pdf
First, thank you for considering helping with the wedding and reception. Financial gifts are always appreciated, but mostly Steven and I would love your assistance with the day-before and day-of tasks. If you're willing and able to help, please text one of us!
The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist has a parking lot adjacent to the church. You are welcome to park there. We recommend you arrive at least 20 minutes ahead of time. If those parking spots are full, we suggest you park on the street and pay the meter until 3:30PM. You are also welcome to park in the Queen Street Garage. For the reception at The Joe Riley Park, there is ample parking in the lot at 360 Fishburne Street. You'll park as far back as possible as the entrance to the reception venue is located at the rear of the baseball stadium. If you are staying in the Charleston Marriott hotel on Lockwood, you can park your car back at the hotel after the Wedding Mass and then walk to and from the reception.
