Alright! We're one week out! The weather is playing with our emotions, but we're still optimistic it will work out. They say it's going to rain somewhere in there, but every day it switches around which days. A note on rain here in Bremerton--It rains often (except the past month), but it doesn't rain 'a lot'. So, while we may have a 40% chance, the rain total expected is less than 0.1 inches. This is super typical, and it means more than likely we will get a 5-minute light misting at some point during the day but not much else. We are planning accordingly and will have a stack pop-up tents and umbrellas on stand-by, but we're still shooting for keeping this thing mostly open-air (the locals treat getting rained on as a point of pride). So if you're worried about a little mist walking from one covered area to the next, a rain jacket might be a good thing to bring. Also, don't wear your shiniest/heel-iest shoes--with or without rain/tents we're going to have backyard games spread around the yard and are planning to have some fun. DO check the expected temperatures. It can get a tad chilly at night, so if it sounds cold to you don't forget a light jacket. Also, everyone is invited to the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner (fish-fry/BBQ of some local fresh catch), but please don't feel obligated if you want to do some exploring around the area. The officiator will be here to do a ceremony run-through at 2:30 on Friday, and then we will start cooking around 5 or 5:30 with a plan to say grace and start eating by 6pm. If you're getting in late and are coming hungry, we'll be keeping a fryer hot to cook more as necessary. Attire will be extra casual. Can't wait to see everybody! Safe Travels!
Parking near our house is quite limited. We can squeeze about 10 cars in our driveway/yard and still have room for the officiator/caterer/band to get in and out, and we will likely need these spots for close family. We highly encourage guests to use Uber/Lyft from somewhere in Bremerton (from the ferry terminal, rideshare usually takes 10 minutes at about $12). If you must drive, street parking on our block is basically non-existent as the neighbors all use the front halves of their yards as parallel parking (it's an odd street due to highly variable topography). The best bet is to park on the west side of N Lafayette just south of 26th street; from there, our house is a 1 1/2-block walk to the very north end of N Lafayette.
