Maid of Honor
Bestie, Best Fran, Sister - all of the above! Jamee and I met as little girls in church and she has been my confidant and best friend for as long as I can remember. She is so selfless, generous, and kind. Spending time with her always equates to laughter and unforgettable moments. We have so many memories together that I will cherish for the remainder of time. According to Jamee, when Regis called to let her know he was going to propose she was shopping in Nordstrom and was so overcome with emotion that she had to take a seat to absorb the information. [I just love this woman :)] I've always told her she would be my MOH and the time has come for her to stand next to me on the biggest day of my life to date. She is my closest friend and I wouldn't trade her for the world!
Bridesmaid
Amy Baby, as she has allowed me to call her for years, and I became college roommates my senior year of undergrad where she and I developed an unbreakable bond! From vaulting all of each others secrets to being supportive of one another's biggest life decisions, we have been like sisters for over ten years. There were conversations we had within the four walls of our dormitory which still come to mind. Amy is hands down one of the sweetest people I know. Her heart and soul are so genuine and benevolent. I stood beside her on her wedding day and I look forward to her standing beside me on mine!
Bridesmaid
April and I met as children in church and we have been inseparable since. She is a ball of endless fun; the type of friend you can take anywhere and she will illuminate the room. April is caring and compassionate, and will always be what I consider a forever friend. She is the first to clap when I or someone I love wins, the first to cry when I'm sad, and the first to support whenever a friend is needed. Although she and her sister Jamee only knew Regis for a few months, when he graduated from Duke, they drove down for less than 24 hours to support his accomplishment. She has been a part of every major and minor life event of mine [and my family's], so it would only be right that she supported me as a bridesmaid on my wedding day!
Bridesmaid
Azna and I connected through a mutual male friend and we bonded over social media first. When we met years later, I was immediately drawn to her magnetic personality and we became attached at the hip! Over the years, Az has been a shoulder to lean on, a confidante, and wing woman. She actually reluctantly accompanied me the first night I linked with Regis after the gala [and has videos of me lamenting over my disbelief that Regis had the audacity to ask us to continue our evening after the poetry event on a week night]. Lol! She has been with me every step of this journey and has made it so much more enjoyable. I cannot wait to have her support on my wedding day and thereafter!
Bridesmaid
Charnise will be my new sister! She has been incredibly easy to get to know. She has a nurturing, loving disposition and has been kind and welcoming since the day I met her - 30 days after meeting Regis. Although his younger sister, Charnise is the sibling that everyone relies on. She was even responsible for transporting the ring from Georgia to D.C. on the day of the engagement so when the night was done, she breathed a looonng sigh of relief. Lol! I am truly excited to become family and I am even more elated to have her stand next to me as a bridesmaid. Her support means the world to me!
Bridesmaid
Grace is a girlfriend of mine who I met through a male best friend almost ten years ago. With her infectious laugh and warm spirit she immediately became a part of my close knit circle and we have been inseparable ever since! I value her perspectives and outlook on life, as she is always open to listening and providing loving feedback and encouragement. Grace has never been afraid to march to the beat of her own drum and live life by blazing her own trail, which I admire greatly. I am incredibly honored to have someone who is so genuine and positive stand beside me on the most special day of my life.
Bridesmaid
Jeanine and I met as little girls in church, right alongside April and Jamee. She is a fun, loving friend who, although unable to attend, cried tears of joy when she called to congratulate me on my engagement. She is compassionate, real, and the type of person who will give you the shirt off her back. No matter how much time and space is between us, when we reconnect there is never any love lost. I value friendships like this and I'm so thankful that we have maintained our bond since childhood. As I make this step into married life, I am excited for her to stand by me and look forward with anticipation to her continued support.
Bridesmaid
Kelly has been like a big sister since the day we met in graduate school. She is the type of friend that allows me to be my authentic self and who will be open and honest with me in return. We have cried together and prayed together. She even drove from North Carolina with her husband and two young children to surprise me by attending my engagement. She has a heart of gold and I am so blessed to have her as a friend and bridesmaid. Being one of my few close friends who is married, I appreciate the advice she has given and will continue to provide as I embark on this new journey with my favorite human, Regis.
Bridesmaid
My prayer warrior! I met Mahala through Grace, and was immediately drawn to her warm, genuine spirit. She is the type of friend who will put all of her needs and wants aside to fulfill the needs and wants of others. She is the first to fast and pray when a loved one is experiencing a hardship. During the time leading up to my proposal, Mahala was finishing a year-long sabbatical to focus on her relationship with Christ. Needless to say, I was nearly brought to my knees when my blindfold was removed and we made eye contact at my engagement. Come to find out, she was intricately involved in the planning and execution of a day I will never forget. She is deserving of every good thing this world has to offer, so I consider myself blessed to be able to call her friend.
Bridesmaid
Miranda - my sweet sister! I love her as if she were my own child and I could not imagine this day without her standing by my side. She has the most forgiving heart and is so full of love. I am so lucky to have her! During our engagement, she cried a flood of tears due to her excitement and joy about this next phase of my life. Replaying the video, I can hear her cheering distinctively in the crowd! If I could have handcrafted a sister, I would replicate her over and over again. From changing her diapers to seeing her grow into such a confident, strong, young woman, it's been wonderful watching her become who she is today.
Bridesmaid
My most favorite cousin! Naomi, affectionately known as Mimi, has been my right hand since the very beginning. As children, we would be mischievous together. As adults and college roommates, we were as thick as thieves. The memories we've created together are unimaginable and unforgettable. Mimi and I would always talk about this day... now it's happening and she's standing next to me just as I always knew she would.
Bridesmaid
Whitney and I were initially coworkers that quickly developed into close friendship about ten years ago. She and I have envisioned every single detail of my wedding before I even knew Regis. This is a day I would not have planned without her involvement. She is the levelheaded friend who is never afraid to speak her mind, provide insight, and be honest when you are seeking feedback. She and I have had some of the deepest belly laughs that I'll never forget. I am thankful to have her as a friend who I will continue to walk with me.
Bridesmaid
Zaire and I met in Chattanooga, TN and were very close in undergrad. She supported me through one of the most difficult times of my life while I was away from my family. We lost touch for eight years and when we reconnected, we knew it would be forever. She is another friend who will pray for and encourage you through any situation. She is a sensitive, empathetic soul who wears her heart on her sleeve just like I do, so we get along with ease! I look forward to her being a part of a day that will be forever etched in my memory.
Flower Girl
From the day Regis and I went to the hospital to welcome Sanaa into the world, she and Uncle Regis have had a bond that rivals any godfather-goddaughter relationship. She is a determined little girl who will make you laugh until your belly hurts. Although she is Jalil's younger sister, at only 18 months (21 at the wedding) she will protect him with everything she has. Sanaa, we love you and we're so excited for you to be our fourth and final flower girl on our wedding day!
Flower Girl
Samaya is my "Baby Amitha's" sweet little baby - the one we prayed for in undergrad and thought of how she may look. Now that she's here, she is such a joy to be around and makes everyone smile. When Regis and I watched Samaya while Amy and Sakarno traveled for Amy's 30th, Samaya was like a dream. She danced in the mornings while Regis worked out, and put herself to sleep for nap time and bedtime. We are so excited to have her a part of our big day!
Flower Girl
Before I had nephews and a niece of my own, Bella [and her sister Sydney] filled that role. Since she's been born we've spent lots of time together and she has become my little best friend. Before I even asked her to be my flower girl, she told me what type of dress she was going to wear while walking down the aisle. I am excited to see "our" vision come to life!
Flower Girl
Madison, Madison, Madison - Brianna's niece! This child is a constant ball of energy, and we love it. She loves to dance and look in the mirror when Brianna does her hair while Lola cooks her favorite foods. When she spends the weekend with us, she likes to eat all the snacks within her reach. While we aren't sure she will make it down the aisle without handing the flowers to all of our guests as opposed to scattering them where appropriate, we are excited for her to do her best!
Best Man
DeByron and I met in our after school program in 2nd grade at Panola Way Elementary School. Rumor has it we got into a playground fist fight and our mom's forced us to make up. Though we never attended the same elementary or middle school, we became brothers and I would spend the majority of my time in his neighborhood from 7th grade on. My mother was his mother and vice versa. Although he only met Brianna on a few occasions, he said he knew she was the one for me. I concurred. It is only fitting he is one of my best men as I seek to succeed in the next phase of life.
Best Man
YO NUPE! Montavius, or Tazer Tay as he's known in DMV area, is one of my best friends. We have truly been inseparable since we met in 2014 while attending one of my brother's wedding. Tay is a genuine, old-school man. He lives by his own rules and is loyal to those who are loyal to him. Tay was my roommate for over three years and has really been a rock as I ventured into business school and entrepreneurship. We enjoyed life together as we roared through D.C. and other parts of the world. I am excited for him to stand beside me as I make this transition knowing he will be a brother to me until the end of time.
Groomsman
YO NUPE! I met Cory in 2013 in Greensboro, NC while attending one of our brother's fight parties. We would connect again in 2014 and have been running together since. From winning recreational sports to dance battling through the D.C. summer streets, Cory has been like a brother from another mother. There were times neither of us thought we'd grow up but we are here and I am thankful to have Antonio with me as I make this next transition in life.
Groomsman
Bry! I am so thankful and proud of the person you have become! You are true to yourself, committed to your goals, and lead with your heart! I recall when I first learned you were born: it meant I had someone to play with, someone to always agree with me (oh was I wrong! :)), but ultimately, the responsibility of being a big brother full-time. I was so excited when you came home and I swear we slept in my bed until you got too big to be in the bed with me. Lol. I miss those days! Of course, I am so happy for you to support me into this next phase of life. I love you!
Groomsman
Chris is the youngest of my two uncles who will be holding me up as I cross into married life. Being only a few years older than me, Chris has always been more of a big brother. He has consistently challenged me to think outside of the box. Being the first vegan in his immediate family, a self-taught musician, and competitive skater, Chris has always defined his own priorities. I am thankful he has always prioritized being true to me.
Groomsman
YO NUPE! Gerald is from the Westside of Atlanta (forgive him!), my fellow ATL stan, and Prophyte in the Greensboro Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. We connected as I explored membership in our chapter and he genuinely became one of my best brothers in Christ and life. Gerald is also my Spades partner and we have only lost to one man (Philip Allen). Lol! Gerald is one of the most humble, intelligent, high-character men I know and I am excited for him to support me on the biggest day of my life.
Groomsman
Joey has been like an older brother to me since we met in my high school years. Always one of the coolest guys in the room, Joey has been my brother through the ups and downs of life. We have spent a lot of time enjoying ATL night life and doing other things young men do. He has been loyal to our friendship and challenged me to succeed at every thing I do. I am honored for him to support me as I make this next transition into family life.
Groomsman
I am excited to gain two twin brothers - Kris and Justin! Justin and I connected while he demolished me on the pool table. His relationship with my soon-to-be-niece-in-law, Madison, is admirable and I can only hope to one day to have such an authentic bond with my offspring. I look forward to learning his pool-shark ways, Lol, but I am mostly appreciative of his support with making his sister the happiest woman in the world on 9/12/2021 and beyond!
Groomsman
UNC! Kenya has been a role model to me for as long as I can remember. As a young boy, he was the definition of cool. He had the girls, cars, and bravado of a successful athlete. Being roughly 8 years older than me, he would take me to his college dorm when I was a pre-teen. I got direct exposure to collegiate life and wanted my own college experience. If I've never formally told you, thank you Unc for those formative experiences. Kenya has always been a leader and adviser (he even edited my first collegiate paper) and I trust him to guide me in this next chapter of my life.
Groomsman
I am excited to gain two twin brothers - Kris and Justin! Kris and I have only met in person on a few occasions but I sense the strength, conviction, and honesty in his disposition. He reminds me a lot of Mr. Michael Wilson and I believe he will aid me in being the best man I can be for his sister! I am honored to gain him as a brother and for him to join me on this joyous endeavor.
Groomsman
Rich and I met while working at AT&T Mobility. He and I would form a good working relationship that blossomed into a friendship that ultimately led to my brothers becoming his brothers. Rich is a fun, adventurous, loyal friend who would give you his last meal even if he were starving. I have had the pleasure of forming a lasting bond with Rich over his favorite pastimes. I am honored for him to join me as I progress into married life.
Groomsman
Tadeal "Tad" Teshager and I met while attending Duke's Fuqua School of Business. Over months of traveling five continents and enduring the rigors of a Duke curriculum, we formed a brotherhood. On the night of December 31st, 2018 Tad, Lionel Shiwala and I went out to bring in the New Year! While optimally positioned to people watch, Tad pointed to a young lady and said "Regis, that is your type!" The rest is history... Beyond having an amazing eye, Tad and I share a similar zeal for life and have complementary skill sets. In September of 2019, we decided to go on the entrepreneurial journey together and recently began preparations to bring an amazing franchise to the D.C. area. I am excited for Tad to also join me on this endeavor and in the most important decision of my life.
Groomsman
Tommy Cheese! I could not say enough about the friendship Thomas and I have been able to form. Thomas and I met through Cory but he's basically been my roommate for longer than Tay. Ha! Tommy is humble and a jack of all trades. If there's a task to be completed Tommy is the man to not only figure out how to complete it but how to complete it BEST. Every man needs a loyal brother like Tommy. His selfless, genuine spirit immediately drew him to Brianna since they first met. I am honored to know Tommy will be next to me every day as I seek to make her the happiest woman in the world.
Ring Bearer
Our amazing god-son Jalil will also have the special responsibility of bearing the ring. He has recently become a big brother, his vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds every day, and he is currently mastering the art of potty training. We are so excited to see his sweet face in his little tuxedo!
Ring Bearer
We are so excited to have Brianna's sweet nephew Tristen, who lovingly calls her Auntie Bri, a part of our big day! He loves the outdoors, playing with his brothers, and saying his ABCs. He is responsible for carrying the rings down the aisle moments before Brianna makes her debut!
