Our favorite local place for bars and restaurants in Ogden. The street ends at Union Station, a museum dedicated to the location of the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869.
Local brewery and great food, check out our local brews!
Site of our first date, the bar we frequent most often. Great alcohol selection and good food. This is a “bar” and so therefore it is 21 and up at all times.
Accessible just up the road from the venue, North Fork Park offers an abundance of trails
Drive up the road to access an easy/moderate trail close to Powder Mountain ski resort. The trail is out and back, so just go how far you care to.
This water body is visible from Wolf Creek resort. Pineview Reservoir is a bustling local spot on warm days. If it’s warm on our wedding weekend, it’s a great place to cool off. There is water access in a few locations. You can also rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards from Weber State University! To reserve ahead visit https://www.weber.edu/outdoor/RentalCenter.html
One of our largest state parks, Antelope Island is in the Great Salt Lake. This is a perfect spot to experience the Great Salt Lake! The island is home to roaming herds of bison, pronghorn, and mule deer. It’s a great birding spot and has many hiking trails. It is near and dear to Rebecka’s heart as this is the main study site for her research. $15 per car entry fee. Warning: it is likely to be buggy! We recommend bug spray
Utah has 15 parks rated as International Dark Sky Parks. In fact, Utah has the highest concentration of International Dark-Sky Association-certified locations, including communities, parks and protected areas. Two of them are nearby, one just up the road from the wedding venue. North Fork Park is a great spot a few minutes from Wolf Creek and Antelope Island State Park is about 45min away.
The name speaks for itself. This is a popular walk through attraction associated with the Ogden Botanical Gardens, along the Ogden River. Located at the mouth of Ogden Canyon. Stroll along a trail of more than 100 life-sized dinosaurs, check out the hands on museum as well.
Dinosaurs! Need we say more?
I know it’s risky, recommending a Mexican restaurant to Texans, but this spot is the real deal. Featured multiple times by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Holy mole this place is good. Expect a wait!

A favorite place of ours to get out of town for the weekend, Moab is a southern Utah outdoor hot spot. Access Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, Goblin Valley State Park, and more from Moab. A 4.5hr drive from your stay at Wolf Creek, Moab offers the best of the red rocks of southern Utah.
Located near Zion and Bryce, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument spans across nearly one million acres of America's public lands. From its spectacular Grand Staircase of cliffs and terraces, across the rugged Kaiparowits Plateau to the wonders of the Escalante River Canyons, the Monument is a diverse geologic treasure speckled with monoliths, slot canyons, natural bridges, and arches. Due to its remote location and rugged landscape, the monument was one of the last places in the continental United States to be mapped. This is one place we have not yet visited, but is certainly on our list!
Grand Teton National Park, accessed by traveling through quaint Jackson, WY, is another gorgeous national park easily accessible from northern UT. A 4.5h drive north, the iconic Teton Range towers over the valley of Jackson Hole and the Snake River. Carved, by glaciers there are plenty of glacial lakes and geological features to take in. Important to note: it is likely to be COLD up there in May! If this is an area you are interested in visiting, we highly recommend doing a little research so you know what to expect in terms of weather (which is likely to still be snowy in May!) and access to areas of the park (some may still be closed for winter).
