Walk along the 4 mile strip, stop in for a souvenir at the boardwalk shops, try a slice of Jersey pizza, hang out on the actual beach (AC beaches are free- you do not have to pay), pop into the casinos along the way. Not up for walking? Take a push cart or the boardwalk tram service ($3 one way, $6 all day pass- last tram runs at 12 am).
What makes AC go round... Test your luck at any of the 10 casinos! Stop by the newest luxury property, Ocean Resort and Casino for the aptly named ocean views and fine dining restaurants (we love the lobster paella at Amada and the tacos at El Distrito) or check out the music memorabilia exhibits or Sugar Factory Restaurant at the new Hard Rock Casino, both on the boardwalk.
In keeping with the Monopoly theme, this new beer hall/ restaurant is only a block away and a short walk from our ceremony on the redeveloped Tennessee Avenue. If you are looking to kill some time before cocktail hour, stop by this local business for the fun themed menu (see how many Monopoly references you can find), outdoor patio with fire pit and over 40 craft beers on draft.
Also next door to the pizza shop and beer hall, stop by this bean-to-bar chocolate cafe and watch them make chocolate in house or pair it with a wine/ beer flight at their dessert bar. Each chocolate bar purchase includes a custom music playlist pairing!
We love Hayday! Stop in for a latte before or after our ceremony as this coffee shop is located just a block away from our church on New York Ave. Try Rebecca’s favorite the iced matcha mocha latte if you are feeling adventurous! *Their logo is a throwback to the old fashioned push carts commonly used on the boardwalk as transportation
Nothing better than Jersey bagels! Try Rebecca’s favorite- turkey sausage and egg on a strawberry bagel or Kevin’s favorite- ham, egg, cheese, salt & pepper, ketchup on egg bagel. Pro tip: long lines in the morning, call ahead (609)541-3488 to place your to go order and eat on the boardwalk near Ocean Resort!
As legend has it, one stormy night in 1883, candy store owner David Bradley had his AC Boardwalk shop ruined by an abnormally high tide. He was trying to pick up the pieces when a customer walked in and asked if he had any taffy available. “Only salt water taffy,” was the response, and a shore tradition was born. The customer bought it, liked the taste, spread the word, and helped create a shore delicacy. Bradley's shop is now closed but James' and Fralinger's have been using the same original recipe since the 1880's. Fralinger would package the taffy in oyster boxes dubbing them as Atlantic City's first souvenir! Fralinger's and James' merged in 1990. They each have locations along the boardwalk, Fralinger's also has a location inside the Hard Rock and James' can be found inside the Tropicana as well.
If you are a fan of Boardwalk Empire, you will recognize this is where Nucky took many of his meals. The Knife and Fork Inn was founded in 1912, by AC's most corrupt political bosses, but it is now known for its steak and seafood. This was also featured on Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown.
An Atlantic City institution.... serving “the best sub sandwiches and cheesesteaks in the city since 1946”. While the original is located on Arctic Avenue, we highly recommend eating at the more accessible shop inside Hard Rock Hotel.
Winery, golf course, spa and resort. NJ historical site and one of the oldest continually operating wineries in the US. About a 20 min drive from AC but worth it. Live bands on the weekends and great outdoor restaurant. Must try- the blueberry champagne!
