***Wedding Update***

We’ve waited 3885 days for this, party accordingly! After postponing from 4/18/20 to 8/1/20 to our final date, 8/28/21, we can’t wait to FINALLY get married and celebrate with you! We plan to proceed with our wedding on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 and as restrictions continue to ease and we return to a sense of normalcy, we’re hopeful for the original wedding we had envisioned! We are grateful that everyone is healthy and we want nothing more to keep it that way! Covid restrictions have changed recently and we want to keep you informed. As of May 28, the CDC no longer requires masks in indoor settings for those who have been vaccinated (but they are still recommended for non-vaccinated persons). Masks will not be required at our ceremony or reception but will be available if you choose. Masks are no longer required in public settings in Atlantic City including the hotels, bars and restaurants and on the casino floor. NJ has also ended the capacity limits for indoor gatherings and is permitting dance floors once again. We are looking forward to seeing all our party people, but will respect everyone’s comfortability levels. You can check out the full list of safety precautions that will be in effect under the FAQ as the weekend approaches. As a reminder, please let us know your status by sending back the RSVP card or you can also RSVP here on our site under the RSVP tab, please no later than July 31, 2021. Since our wedding is the weekend before Labor Day at the shore, we suggest securing your lodging sooner than later as hotel rooms in AC tend to get snagged up quickly. If you choose to book a room under the room block at The Claridge, we have new 2021 lower summer season rates. When booking a room at The Claridge, please use code: ALOVE We will post more updates as the wedding week approaches and we finalize all of the details for you, so please check back here as we get closer to 8/28/21. Thank you for the continued love and support! Rebecca & Kevin

How We Met

We are proof that you can find love in Clarendon! It all begin with a slice of Goody’s Pizza... thanks to our good friend, Rachel Pipitone, who offered it to an unsuspecting Rebecca as she was passing by the little pizza shop after a night out in the city. Instead of taking her up on her offer, Rebecca stole Kevin’s slice because she thought he was cute! It was “love at first slice” and the rest is history! (There are definitely a few more details to this courtship, ask us nicely sometime and maybe we will spill the beans!)

The Proposal

Rebecca and Kevin’s favorite day is Halloween and they look forward to coming up with an epic costume each year. For Halloween 2018, they visited the haunted city of New Orleans. Rebecca thought maybe a proposal might happen this trip because they had recently discussed getting married and had been dating for some time, but after it didn’t happen the first day, she completely wrote it off. They celebrated a fun night at City Park dressing up as Buddy and Jovie from the movie, Elf, toured the famous French quarter, watched their Vikings sadly fall to the hometown Saints and had some of the best local cuisine. On the last night, while walking back to their hotel, Kevin asked if Rebecca wanted to take a carriage ride. She didn’t think anything of it since earlier in the weekend they joked that if they hit it big at the casino, they’d ride all around the city on a tour. As they were getting into the carriage, Kevin secretly hinted to the guide driving that he was going to propose. Rebecca is big into taking photos and asked the driver to take a photo of them as a couple. She said she had a better spot during the tour she usually lets her passengers get out and take a few photos. Towards the end of the carriage ride, they pulled up in front of The Cornstalk Hotel. Kevin got down on one knee and asked for Rebecca’s hand in marriage. She said yes! We hope you have enjoyed our story so far and are excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!

Why Atlantic City?

Early on when they were first dating, Rebecca was working in the pastry kitchen and it was hard to find time to see each other that would fit with both of their schedules. They would sneak away for mini vacation weekends to Atlantic City. Relaxing on the beach and hanging out at the casinos here became their happy place and are some of their first memories as a couple. In fact, the first time they attended church together was actually at St. Nicholas of Tolentine, where their ceremony is being held! Atlantic City is much more than a casino town. It was brought to life in the 1850's with the rise of the Atlantic and Camden Railroads. With its luxurious resorts at the time and the nation's first boardwalk, it became a popular destination especially during the 1920's when prohibition here wasn't strictly enforced. If you've seen "Boardwalk Empire", you know the story! The board game, Monopoly, was also based off Atlantic City streets- and most are still standing today. Atlantic City is home to the Miss America Pageant and has been hosting for over one hundred years. AC is also the rumored birthplace of salt water taffy. Of course, it is most known for its casinos and in 1976 became the first city in the United States outside of Las Vegas with continuous legalized gambling. We have fallen for the nightlife, rich history and the city’s Great Gatsby-ish charm and hope you will love it here too. See you in AC!
