Our love story began in October of 2016 when our best friends Garret and Marichelle (who were engaged at the time) devised a plan to have the four of us attend a Red Wings game together. I guess the date went well enough for Kevin to ask me for my number at the end of the night :) Fun fact: I must’ve been so nervous that I didn't realize that I put my number under "fax" so it says Julie Fax when I call! The next day, as I prepared to start my morning at work I received an unexpected text message from Kevin and it eventually led to our first date. We chose Downtown Detroit and was a night I'll never forget. Kevin lives in Allen Park and I'm in Macomb. He insisted on picking me up. Read the last two sentences again. Does that even make sense to you?! There was construction on 94 (big surprise) so it took him over an hour to arrive at my house. I introduced him to my parents and we made our way to Detroit. I suggested to fine dine at BDubs in Greektown so that we could get the opportunity to watch a few college football games. I heard that Kevin is a sports fan and I am too. Quite honestly, I don’t think we even paid much attention to the games! We spent the rest of the night enjoying one another's company. After dinner we walked over to Cafe D'Mongos for a few drinks and capped the night off at Punch Bowl Social. So from Downtown Detroit Kevin drove me back to Macomb, only to drive back home to Allen Park. How could 3 hours of driving not earn him brownie points?! and I guess you can say the rest is history :)
Describe each other in 3 words: Kevin (about Julie): Kind, artistic, outgoing Julie (about Kevin): Supportive, loving, and humorous When did you know she/he was the one? Kevin: I remember thinking about how things were going between us right around a year of dating. Everything was going great! Then I thought about my life had Julie not been a part of it over the last year, or if she wasn’t in the future. That was the moment that I knew I wanted to marry her. Julie: So many moments! But if I could mention a time in detail it would have to be when we went and saw The Wood Brothers and Tedeschi Trucks Band perform. As the Wood Brothers sang "The Luckiest Man", Kevin turned to me to tell me that he thought this song reminded him of us. I'll never forget having to disguise my happy tears behind my sunglasses. Who cries at a concert unless it's perhaps Celine Dion?! He loves me so much. So much and he doesn't let a single day go by without letting me know. What are you looking most forward to once you are married? Kevin: Building a life together. Growing as a married couple. And growing as a family (Hopefully!) Julie: Enjoying life as a married couple, new adventures, and starting a family (can't wait to see Kevin as a dad!) What are some things about the other person that would surprise most people? Kevin: Julie is an avid NFL fan and an accomplished fantasy football player! Also, an incredible artist and painter! Julie: Kevin initially wanted to become a firefighter, but you couldn't have asked for a better safety professional. You can tell he's really found his calling and I love hearing about his projects. Also, Kevin LOVES lemon chicken. But you'll never catch him eating any lemon desserts. That's because he got sick eating too many Girl Scout lemon cookies back in the day!
