Even though they grew up merely 15 minutes apart in the suburbs of Birmingham and crossed paths numerous times throughout their childhoods, Emily and Jake did not meet until their third year at Auburn University. After a year of friendship that grew from their mutual love of Auburn football, Game of Thrones, exploring Chewacla State Park, and amateur racquetball, the two realized that the reason that they kept coming up with more reasons to spend time together was that they might be meant to be more than friends. This created one more magical year at Auburn, made ever more special by the memories they made together. Then came the decision that changed both of their lives forever, moving across the country to northern California. Jake got into a Graduate Engineering program at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. As he was traveling through Salt Lake City during his move to Humboldt, Emily called Jake with the most amazing news that she had been offered a job 15 minutes from the university! This led to 2 wonderful years living in the land of Redwoods, beaches, and 5 months a year of rain, and they will be quick to tell everyone that they need to visit this beautiful part of the country. After graduating with his Master's Degree, Jake was offered a job with ENGIE Services U.S. in the Bay Area working out of Oakland, CA. Two and a half years in, he loves the engineering challenge and the satisfaction of bringing clean, renewable energy to cities, counties, and school districts in Northern California. Emily climbed the ranks at Enterprise Rent-a-Car for three years, and now she is one and a half years into her new job working with the home care industry in the Bay Area for seniors and adults with disabilities. She's now a Senior Account Manager & a repeat name on the company's top performers list. Emily and Jake cannot wait to come back home to celebrate with family and friends as they pronounce their eternal love for one another.
