The legendary Frank Lloyd Wright house of FallingWater is only 25 minutes from our venue. A great opportunity to visit this landmark on Friday or Sunday. For generations, Fallingwater has been a place for renewal in nature. There is much to discover through exploration of the beautiful grounds, extensive trails and of course Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece of organic architecture.
Located a half hour from SanaView Farms, the park of Ohiopyle is a beautiful forest with waterfalls, trails, bikes to rent, and a natural waterslide (do this at your own risk as people have actually died. Emily did it once and barely survived to tell the tale.) You can also rent cabins here if you want to stay relatively nearby but aren't into a tent or hotel experience.
Powdermill Nature Reserve is Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s environmental research center. Only 15 minutes from SanaView Farms, Powdermill is a field station and laboratory where researchers do long-term studies of natural populations in western Pennsylvania. Explore the beautiful woodlands around Powdermill, or visit the nature center, which features exhibits that highlight local wildlife, an indoor stream, and a marsh machine that uses a living greenhouse to purify waste water. Admission is free!
We stopped at this lovely little cafe on our way to view SanaView Farms (it was actually the first restaurant we went to after months of quarantine and they were very responsible about wearing masks and social distancing). Great food and atmosphere with a beautiful outdoor view. We are considering doing a Sunday brunch here after the wedding.
