*pretend we are sitting across the table from each other at another weekly Mule Monday at the Village Pub and you ask the question "So, how did you guys meet?" * Connor: The story of how we met actually starts about 8 months before we actually met, in August 2023, when my friends Bedon and Caroline met Michelle. They met as chaperones on a youth retreat for our church and knew as soon as they met her that I needed to date her. Not "meet" or "be friends with" but date! Not long after my sister started going to City Church and also met Michelle and obviously came to the same conclusions. So, joining together, they began their mission to bring us together (which essentially meant they would bring it up nearly every time I saw them for the next six months). Eventually I began going to a City Church Neighborhood where I met Michelle's twin brother Scott and learned that the neighborhood group also knew about this mission my friends and family had been on! I finally began going to City Church in February of 2025, but the night before I sat everyone down and told them "do not get your hopes up, I am NOT interested in dating anyone now!" That idea quickly changed upon meeting Michelle, as I thought she was VERY cute. Michelle: And I thought he was VERY cute with his East Nashville indie boy mullet and Birkenstock mules. However, I am a professional, so when he asked to join the worship team I didn't want to put the cart before the horse. Wouldn't want to flirt with him when he really just intended to worship the Lord with pure, non me related intentions. But we exchanged numbers to "communicate about worship things" and I quickly realized the ~game was afoot~ when he asked if I had any good music I'd been listening to lately...which didn't feel very strictly professional to me Anyway, I shared some music with him, but during the week after I met him I was diagnosed with vocal nodules, which is basically having a callous on your vocal chords (yes, like in pitch perfect) and I was put on vocal rest. So, the next time I saw him was at church the following Sunday and I waved at him in the communion line and I texted him after to say hi...since I couldn't speak...and tell him I wanted to hear what he thought of the records I sent. Next, he asked me out to dinner, so we planned that for after the doctor cleared me to talk again. In the meantime, on the last day of my vocal rest, I woke up to a text from Connor asking me if I wanted to join him on a date at the Frist Art Museum. He said I didn't have to talk but we could just look at art together. He showed up with a whiteboard and a expo marker and from there the rest is history. And I could speak on our second date and every date thereafter.
