We met how any good, modern couple does...online of course! After matching on Bumble, I realized from Stefan's profile that he had a deep love of Star Wars. So, I sent a very concise command (not question) of, "Favorite Star Wars movie...go!!!". Needless to say, he had not received a message quite like that one before, so we chatted for a grand total of 5 messages before he asked me out. We met at a local restaurant on a Sunday evening as I had a trip for work the following week. Looking back, I came close to rescheduling the date because by the time I needed to head to the restaurant: 1. It was pouring rain. 2. My cat was asleep in my lap (and she never does that!) and 3. I hadn't packed for my tip yet. I decided it would be rude to reschedule last minute, and found my way to McMenamins. We didn't know at the time, but there are two entrances to the location we chose, and we (of course), chose different doors to enter the restaurant. Stefan said for half a second he was worried that I had stood him up, but we eventually found each other and sat down to get acquainted. What was supposed to be a quick 2-hour first date turned into us chatting for over 4 hours. It felt so natural, like we had known each other for years and were just catching up. The time flew by and I had to say goodbye to pack for my trip and early flight the next day. On the way home, I called a work friend to let her know I had just finished a 4-hour long date and even told her, "I think I'm in trouble with this one". Stefan texted his brother after the date, too, and said something to the same effect. During the date, Stefan was surprised to learn that my flight the next day would be leaving so early that it was before he got up in the mornings to prepare for work. Even still, the next day as I boarded the plane, I got a sweet "good morning, have a safe flight" text from him as he had sent an alarm 30 minutes earlier than normal to make sure I knew he had thought of me. I had planned for a friend to join me later that week for a full Pac Northwest adventure, but she ended up getting hurt and wasn't able to join. Stefan took full advantage of my freshly opened scheduled and made sure to schedule a paint & sip date for us at the end of the same week and the rest was history from there. We still enjoy McMenamins and paint & sip, and Stefan still makes sure to send me a text before any flight I'm on to wish me well, regardless of the time.
