A short drive or taxi ride takes you to the Mirador de Turi, a popular viewpoint overlooking Cuenca. From here, you can enjoy sweeping panoramic views of the city with the surrounding mountains. The viewpoint is especially striking at sunset and at night. The area around Turi is full of restaurants and cafés, making it a lively spot for dinner, walking around, and taking photos.

Just about 45 minutes from Cuenca, Cajas National Park is a high-altitude (12,000 feet) paradise of glacial lakes, rolling grasslands, and Andean mountain scenery. Guided tours can be arranged leaving from downtown, and are usually a full day trip. Recommended if feeling adventurous and spending an extra day in the city. Dress up for colder weather!
