York Harbor Beach - Cliff Walk
A 2-mile walk along the coast with scenic views. The north end of the walk is a 12-minute drive from ViewPoint Hotel.
Nubble Lighthouse/Sohier Park
Technically named the Cape Neddick Light, the Nubble Lighthouse is a beaut! (There’s even a photo of it included on the Voyager deep space probe!) While the lighthouse/island are not accessible to the public, nearby Sohier Park offers excellent views, painting, photographing, scuba diving, fishing, relaxing, a small gift shop, and parking. There are also great views of the lighthouse from our wedding venue. Fun fact: If you look about 6 miles past the Nubble, you can also see the Boon Island lighthouse. It’s the tallest lighthouse in New England.
York Beach Beer Company
A cool local craft brewery just off the center of York Beach.
SoMe Brewing Company
Pronounced like the work “some”, this is another cool craft brewery a bit further southwest of the wedding venue. (We’re pretty sure SoMe and York brewing are run by the same people. You can find both brewery’s beers at either location.)
Anthony's Food Shop
Great place for lunch close by. This place covers all your main food groups: there’s a pizza/panini counter, cafe with fresh roasted coffee beans, extensive beer fridge, and a bakery!
Beach Pea Baking Co
Located closer to Portsmouth, this local bakery has amazing and fresh bakery goods. It’s a perfect place for breakfast, lunch, desserts or coffee!
Kennebunkport
Kennebunk's Lower Village & Kennebunkport's Dock Square are located along the ocean and Kennebunk River. Settled in the 1600's and a long time ship building mecca, the river banks saw five-masted ships and schooners making their way down the river on their way to the sea. Sea captains built fine mansions, many of which are preserved today as lovely inns with antique charm. (The Bush family has a famous compound around here, too, if you’re into THAT kind of thing...) 35-minute drive from ViewPoint Hotel.
Portsmouth, NH
A historic coastal vacation town with great dining and shopping options. 25-minute drive from ViewPoint Hotel.
Portland, ME
A small city popular with tourists, with a fun downtown and lots of things to do nearby. 1-hour drive from ViewPoint Hotel.
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a natural wonder on nearly 300 acres of shorefront in mid-coast Maine. It offers spectacular ornamental gardens, miles of waterfront and woodland trails, beautiful plantings, impressive stonework, fountains, and scenic views. 2-hour drive from ViewPoint Hotel.
Acadia National Park
We visited Acadia during our proposal vacation and fell in love with its dramatic mountains, coastline, and forests. 3h 40min drive north from ViewPoint hotel (but if you have the time we highly recommend a visit!)
Otter Cliff
Otter Cliff, in Acadia National Park, Maine, is "one of the most spectacular sights along the North Atlantic Seaboard."
