We met on a dating app, as you do these days. We had our first date at Brick and Mortar in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the fall of 2016. We laughed and talked for hours (about music, mostly) over a few libations. The highlight was when Lauren knocked over a glass, breaking it and cutting herself and requiring the attention of several bartenders and the manager, who brought over a band-aid. In all the chaos it wasn't until a few minutes later that she was further mortified when she realized she had spilled the entire contents of said glass on Troy's lap. It was not enough to deter him, however, and he quickly secured a second date.
We were up in Bar Harbor for a long weekend and we decided to get up very early to watch the sunrise at the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. This is the highest elevation on the eastern seaboard, making it the first place to see the sunrise in the US. It was an especially foggy morning and we had to wait what felt like forever to see the sun peek over the horizon. While Lauren was distracted taking pictures, Troy dropped to one knee and proceeded to asked her to marry him with his grandmother's ring. She replied "Of course I will!"
