We met in Hanover, New Hampshire, in the fall of 2013. Karl was in his second year of graduate school for creative writing, and Rachel was in her first term of medical school. Mutual friends suggested we meet. When Rachel gave Karl her phone number, she was a jellyfish. He was a cheeseburger. (It was Halloween.) We grew close. Through New England winters, boggy summers, half-a-dozen apartments, two surgeries, medical rotations, and, when Karl moved to Boston, long distance. On a slushy New Year’s Day, she said yes to a question he’d wanted to ask for some time. Rachel matched into residency for general surgery at the University of California - San Diego. In June 2017, we drove across the country and unpacked into this sun-filled city. We’re delighted by our new digs, our work, and so much that lies ahead. Thank you for visiting our page.
