We Can't Wait

First things first: We wouldn't have found each other without each of you. Both of us love love, and have reflected together and apart on all our loved ones who helped us get to this moment. Even if we've never shared this concept with you, we promise that you have left a mark on us in a way that has moved us toward each other for the long haul. If you know us, you know we don't let a significant moment miss our eyes, ears or hearts. Matriarchs, patriarchs, romantic partners and individual soul searchers, we've been moved over the last 30ish years by each of you. Elation is an understatement when we imagine spending 7/15/2023 with you all to celebrate the joining of us. This website is to help all of you understand what to expect during our wedding and answer any questions you may have. Stay tuned for more specific information regarding shuttles, schedule, dress attire, etc. There will be an FAQ page that will be added in the coming months as well. If you have concerns or questions until then, you are more than welcome to send us an email and we will respond as soon as possible. No question is a silly question. We want to ensure everyone feels as comfortable as possible so please don't be shy. You can send us an email at homeracheli@gmail.com.

Our Story

In the earliest days of dating, Rachel and Eli marveled with every new realization of yet another narrowly missed connection in the years before they met. From almost sharing the same farmer’s market volunteer shift at People's Food Co-op in Portland to Rachel almost snagging Eli's room at The Moishe House, to an email correspondence with one degree of separation, it was a dating app that finally brought the two of them together. A photo on Eli's dating profile looked familiar to Rachel, sparking their initial conversation. Rachel recognized a mud dome as one she had toured during her study abroad program in Israel when they visited Kibbutz Lotan in the Arava Valley. As it turns out, Eli lived in this very same dome for seven months while he volunteered for the Kibbutz eco-village. Before their first date, Rachel thought she would spend no more than an hour with Eli, since she was studying for her licensing exam. What was supposed to be a quick walk in Laurelhurst Park turned into a 6 hour stroll, with stops for chocolate, kombucha and pizza. That day they both knew there was something special between them. Since that day, the ramble continues with plenty of beautiful, yet sometimes challenging, detours and standstills along the way. Some souvenirs have included foraged mushrooms, wildflowers, lessons learned, deep breaths, a dog named Nala and memories that, as they often come, are infinite.
