Flight
Crested Butte is located approximately 4 hours southwest of Denver. Your cheapest flying route is through Denver International Airport (DIA) and rent a car to access Crested Butte. Driving anywhere in Colorado can be quite the scenic adventure. It can also be nice to have a car at your disposal once you get here. There is a regional airport however, closer to Crested Butte, in which you could get a transfer from DIA. The Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport, located in Gunnison, is the closest airport to Crested Butte. You may also be able to find flights into Colorado Springs (3hr drive), Montrose (1hr drive), or Grand Junction ( 3hr drive). The drive from Denver to Crested Butte does include driving through the mountains and over mountain passes. This time of year is a magical time in Crested Butte. Typically its the peak of fall colors with bright orange-yellow Aspens and a little bit of snow on the peaks.
Travel Note
Look for colorful, hand painted buses driving around, these are the free and convenient Mountain Express Bus. Busses run every 40 minutes around town and between town and Mt CB. See the route on our map. Last Bus from CB to Mt CB: departs Old Town Hall at 10:55 PM. We also recommend bringing a bike for the bike parade and as it is a great way to get around town.
Hotel
Just blocks from our reception site and conveniently located near the bus stop up to Mt CB, this is an affordable and convenient option. We have a block of rooms reserved here, just mention Holder/Finkowski Wedding and make your reservation before August 1st, 2022.
Hotel
Historic Lodge and one time employer of both John and Mary Holder. Elk Mountain Lodge is 2 blocks from the main downtown strip of restaurants and stores and is also walking distance(1 mi) from reception. This lodge has 19 rooms and could be a fun place for a group of friends to gather- they have a bar and serve breakfast. Rooms are expected to fill up fast so if you like this option, book early.
Travel Note
There are plenty of wonderful places to stay around the area. We recommend staying in town or Mt CB if you don't plan to have a vehicle or want to limit your driving. Staying in Gunnison is a good option for those that want to sleep at a lower elevation and lodging in Gunnison is more affordable.
House Or Rental
There are numerous Air BnB and VRBO listings in the Crested Butte Area. There are a number of larger homes that can sleep 8 or more if you want to enjoy the weekend with friends/family. If you prefer this option, reservations should be made ASAP.
Travel Note
Crested Butte is superb place for tent camping or to bring your camper. Camping requires a vehicle and in most cases a high clearance, AWD vehicle. Some recommendations for dispersed camp spots include: Washington Gultch, Paradise Divide, Slate River Road, West Brush Creek, and Cement Creek Road. You can also now reserve sites at Irwin, Oh Be Joyful, and Lost Lake. Camping in CB is more popular than ever so reserve spots early.
Hotel
While not located in town, these cabins are a really cool place to stay and are located in CB south, only at 12 minute drive from town. Cabins have up to 3 bedrooms and kitchens, possibly a good option for families or groups of friends.
