MIA is the closest large airport to Islamorada. It’s a big airport and an even bigger hassle. As residents of the Fort Lauderdale area, we recommend using Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) instead.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) is a solid medium-sized airport, within driving distance of Islamorada. Flights to major metropolitan areas throughout the USA are numerous and inexpensive. It may not be something to be proud of, but FLL serves as the main hub for Spirit Airlines.
