We met June 22nd, 2005 while we were both finishing up college. We instantly hit it off when Ian offered to do Rachel’s homework during her shift, working behind the bar at Lambertville Station. Ian sat there working out quadratic equations, while Rachel repaid him with free pints of Yards IPA. After months of back and forth comments, we decided to finally meet up outside of work. We continued to spend every chance we could get together, ultimately deciding to move in together in March 2007. Rachel returned to South Florida a few years later, but neither of us could forget each other. Fate brought us back together in 2023. We realized that life together was infinitely better than life apart.
After almost fourteen years of not seeing each other, we realized that our lives were empty without each other. Starting with some light reminiscing, we started talking more and more. After a little while, we realized that we needed to see each others’ faces. From the moment we laid eyes on each other again, we knew the only possible outcome was marriage.
We did not want to close out 2023 without being engaged. We planned a trip to Montreal, Quebec to ensure that it was a memorable experience. Rachel would prefer to forget the cold she endured in Quebec, but a nice tourist acted as our photographer (unexpectedly). Following the engagement, we drove up to Mont Tremblant where Rachel tried skiing for the first time. She will not admit that despite being a south Florida native, she was a natural. No bones were broken as part of the engagement.
