Visit the iconic DC monuments and free Smithsonian museums! Take the metro to the Smithsonian Metro Station and be right there on the National Mall. Make sure to check out the Smithsonian Castle! (Rachel interned at the Smithsonian, and she leads photo walks in DC!) The Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial along the Tidal Basin, the Korean War Memorial, and the DC WWI Memorial are Rachel’s personal favorites – and they’re conveniently located near each other. Walk the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Capitol and visit the nearby Supreme Court, Folger Shakespeare Library, and the Library of Congress. They’re all cool, even from the exterior, or you can go inside and take a tour. (This is our neck of the woods!) Some of our favorite museums include the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and the African American History & Culture Museum. The Natural History and Air & Space Museums are both fun experiences and they’re entertaining for kids!
Held each Saturday morning from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm year-round, the farmers' market is an event that has been held at the Market Square plaza for over 260 years.
