Fall is the best time of year to visit Santa Cruz. The weather is in the mid 70s, the tourists have just left town and the sunsets are full of vibrant pinks and oranges. We're looking forward to sharing this special time of year with you! We recommend booking your travel as soon as you can as Santa Cruz is a popular destination that books up over 6 months in advance. While there are a couple hotels we like, we recommend booking an Airbnb with family or friends as it'll be the nicest and most affordable option.

This is our favorite hotel in town! It's clean, right on the ocean, and has a really fun retro vibe. They also have a great restaurant, The Jack O'neill Lounge, on site.

If you'd rather stay in the mountains this is a great option. The hotel has many room options, a great pool/bar, and is one of the more affordable hotels in the area.

Airbnb

We've stayed in many Airbnbs over the years, many in Santa Cruz, and find that the personal care individuals put into their homes far exceeds any hotel amenities. When booking we recommend reading reviews carefully, looking for superhosts and avoiding homes run by large rental companies.

Flight

San Jose Airport

The San Jose Airport (SJC) is the best place to fly into as it's very nice, uncrowded, and a quick 30-45 min Uber ride over the hill to Santa Cruz.

Flight

San Francisco Airport (SFO)

San Francisco Airport (SFO) is also a great option, that is about 1.5hrs away from Santa Cruz. If you fly into SFO we recommend taking Highway 1 down and stopping along the way to take in the beautiful views!
