It was a rainy Labor Day weekend and Brittney and Alex had no set plans. After going back and forth between what to do, they settled on a camping trip with their best friends in the middle of nowhere - Pigeon River. It's always a weekend for the books with this crew, but no one knew (not even Alex) that this one would be life changing. On the drive to the campsite, "Brandy" by Looking Glass came on the radio which is one of Brittney's favorite songs (she and her maid of honor won a lip sync contest to it). Per usual, Brittney was singing along and really emphasizing the "what a good wife you would be" part. When they got to the campsite, their friends were sitting around a fire, relaxing, but Alex immediately wanted to go on a bike ride to explore. When no one else wanted to go, Brittney said "I'll go with you." So the two took off side by side on a muddy dirt round surrounded by hardwoods with no destination or distance in mind. After about 2.5 miles, they decided to head back. Just like on the way out there, Brittney and Alex rode next to each other, at a similar pace. Then, all of a sudden, Alex sped up and left Brittney in the dust. To be honest, she really didn't think much of it, and they were close enough she wasn't worried about taking a wrong turn. When she finally caught up to him, Alex was digging around in the truck and Britt rode by saying "I'll see ya at the campsite" and Alex said "wait!" So Britt stopped, put her feet on the ground with the bike between her legs and turned around only to see Alex holding something... getting down on one knee.. with tears in his eyes. He said "let this be the last time I leave you behind.." and some other things, but Brittney just sat on his knee, hugged him and then said "yes!" After all the hopeful times Brittney thought Alex would pop the question, she didn't expect it at this moment and it was obvious because she was wearing bike shorts over leggings, a flannel, a hat and no make-up. It was perfect.
