FFM: Well, Pokam, Doug, thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with us. I know it’s a busy time for you all with the new movie coming out, “Infinity With the Ngomsis." Pokam: Thank you for having us. That’s right, the movie drops August 31, 2019. FFM: Yes, indeed. And congratulations on that and on your engagement. Doug: Thanks, been a long time coming. FFM: So, I want to first ask what almost everyone going to the premiere will want to know. How did you all meet? Pokam: Looking back, it seems unconventional. But we got connected through a mutual friend of our parents’. Doug: I’d gotten her contact from my moms, who asked me every other day if I’d contacted her… So I finally reached out just to say I did it. But no reply... for days. Pokam: Well, I was on a weeklong cruise, unwinding on my 1st vacation in 3 years since starting residency. So when I got back, I saw his message and said, “hey, good to meet you. Let’s chat tomorrow…” and kept it moving. Doug: And the conversation the next day was...aight. Cordial and all, but I didn't see a part 2. Pokam: I think I was still tired from the trip. Doug: Sounds like an excuse. And excuses are tools of-- Pokam: Oh, please... Doug: Anyway, I remember hanging up thinking, "guess she ain't no holla back girl." FFM: So you didn’t hit it off at all? Doug: It was like her trying to convince a patient to fill his cavities. Pokam: BUT, we somehow managed to keep talking. And each time the conversations got longer. We realized we had a lot in common: family, faith, music, Marvel and action movies, the 90’s, community involvement… Doug: And other things lined up too, like being first-borns, college Greek-life, December birthdays... FFM: And all that led to where you are today. Pokam: Right. Near the event of a lifetime. FFM: Well I’m sure guests at the premiere will get to learn more about you.
