Things To Do

Portland is an amazing city and Portland in the summertime is even more amazing. Here are a handful of our favorite things to do and places to go in the area.
Jamison Square

Jamison Square

810 Northwest 11th Avenue, Portland, OR 97209
, (503) 823-7529

Fun urban park right next to the venue. It turns into a water park in the summer which can be fun for the kiddos. Close to restaurants and ice cream in the Pearl neighborhood.

Tom McCall Waterfront Park

Tom McCall Waterfront Park

98 Southwest Naito Parkway, Portland, OR 97204
, (503) 823-7529

The river separates the east and west side of the city. Going for a walk, run, or bike ride at the waterfront is a great way to see all the bridges.

Lower Macleay Park

Lower Macleay Park

2960 Northwest Upshur Street, Portland, OR 97210
, (503) 823-7529

Interested in a hike? Portland's Forest Park has tons of beautiful trails right in the city. We love starting at Lower Macleay Park and taking the trail from there. The hike can be done lots of different ways for different levels of hikers, kids do well on this one too!

South Waterfront Lower Tram Terminal

South Waterfront Lower Tram Terminal

3303 Southwest Bond Avenue, Portland, OR 97239
, (503) 494-8283

Great way to get spectacular views of the city. Take the tram up to the top and enjoy the scenery. Round trip on the tram is $5.10 per person but kids 6 and younger are free.

Powell's City of Books

Powell's City of Books

1005 West Burnside Street, Portland, OR 97209
, (800) 878-7323

Powell's is the largest independent and used book store in the world (at least that's what they say!) and takes up a full city block in the Pearl District. You can get lost in there going through the floors and floors of books, games, and souvenirs.

10 Barrel Brewing Portland

10 Barrel Brewing Portland

1411 Northwest Flanders Street, Portland, OR 97209
, (503) 224-1700

Fun brewery with a rooftop bar in the Pearl District.

Great Notion Brewing NW

Great Notion Brewing NW

2444 Northwest 28th Avenue, Portland, OR 97210
, (971) 279-2183

Awesome brewery with really unique flavors. This one is closer to the Pearl District but they have another location on NE Alberta that we visit a lot.

Von Ebert Brewing Pearl

Von Ebert Brewing Pearl

131 Northwest 13th Avenue, Portland, OR 97209
, (503) 820-7721

A brewery we like in the Pearl District

Rogue Pearl Public House

Rogue Pearl Public House

1339 Northwest Flanders Street, Portland, OR 97209

A brewery we like in the Pearl District, Dale loves the fried cheese curds!

Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House

Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House

210 Northwest 11th Avenue, Portland, OR 97209
, (503) 296-4906

Not our very favorite brewery in the city but lots of people love Deshutes and it is worth checking out if you like their beer. Centrally located in the Pearl District.

Pine State Biscuits | NW 23rd

Pine State Biscuits | NW 23rd

1717 Northwest 23rd Avenue, Portland, OR 97210
, (971) 407-3621

Great breakfast spot for some delicious biscuits. They have been recognized a bunch for their food so expect a line, especially on weekends. They also have a few locations on the east side of the city.

Pine Street Market

Pine Street Market

126 Southwest 2nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97204

Cool, modern food court with some great food options. Home to our favorite ramen shop, Marukin, and Salt & Straw ice cream's only soft serve location.

Bamboo Sushi

Bamboo Sushi

836 Northwest 23rd Avenue, Portland, OR 97210
, (971) 229-1925

Yummy (but slightly spendy) sushi spot. They only use sustainable fish and have a decent happy hour. The green machine roll is really good if you like veggie sushi. They have a few other locations around the city in addition to this one.

Voodoo Doughnut - Old Town

Voodoo Doughnut - Old Town

22 Southwest 3rd Avenue, Portland, OR 97204
, (503) 241-4704

A favorite for folks vising Portland. It can have lines as crazy as Disneyland so be prepared to wait if you go during prime time!

McMenamins Edgefield

McMenamins Edgefield

2126 Southwest Halsey Street, Troutdale, OR 97060
, (503) 669-8610

Super cool space. An old work farm transformed into a hotel, concert venue, mini golf, bars, restaurant. Fun to explore if you want to venture out of the city a bit.

Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls

OR 97014

If you have a car and want to go check out one of Oregon's most scenic waterfalls it might be worth the trek to Multnomah Falls. It's about a 45 minute drive and can get pretty busy in the summer so we recommend heading there early if you decide to go.

Alberta Arts District

Alberta Arts District

Portland, OR

This is our neighborhood! Alberta St. is a great stretch of restaurants, bars, coffee, and shops. Come check it out!

Northwest Portland

Northwest Portland

Portland, OR

NW 23rd and NW 21st are the two major streets in Portland’s Alphabet District. This area is popular among college students and young professionals. Each street has countless restaurants, bars, shops, etc. running from burnside to about Quimby street. Great place for a stroll. This area also has several of our favorite restaurants that originated in The Northeast Portland area, we usually go to these in NE but will swing by their NW locations if we are in the area. This includes Salt & Straw, Life of Pie, Pine Street Biscuits, and Bamboo Sushi. There is also a local theater in this area that plays random indie films.

North Mississippi Avenue

North Mississippi Avenue

North Mississippi Avenue, Portland, OR

Cute street with lots of food, drink, and shopping options. Definitely worth a stroll. Some favs over there are Fresh Pot for coffee, Gravy for breakfast, Por Que No for tacos/margaritas, and Mississippi Pizza for pizza by the slice (and boozy slushees if it’s hot out). The fun part of this street runs from Mississippi and Skidmore all the way down to Fremont.

Pearl District

Pearl District

Portland, OR

This is the neighborhood the wedding venue is in. The Pearl District is Portland’s more upscale downtown with food, bars, breweries, and shops. This is where you will find Powell’s Books on 10th and Burnside. From there head up the alphabet in street names and stay working 10th to 14th to see the Pearl area.

Southeast Division Street

Southeast Division Street

Southeast Division Street, Portland, OR

SE Division Street is home to Portland's newest trendy neighborhood. Go stroll along and you will find tons of food, drinks, and shopping.
