Interested in a hike? Portland's Forest Park has tons of beautiful trails right in the city. We love starting at Lower Macleay Park and taking the trail from there. The hike can be done lots of different ways for different levels of hikers, kids do well on this one too!
Powell's is the largest independent and used book store in the world (at least that's what they say!) and takes up a full city block in the Pearl District. You can get lost in there going through the floors and floors of books, games, and souvenirs.
Yummy (but slightly spendy) sushi spot. They only use sustainable fish and have a decent happy hour. The green machine roll is really good if you like veggie sushi. They have a few other locations around the city in addition to this one.
NW 23rd and NW 21st are the two major streets in Portland’s Alphabet District. This area is popular among college students and young professionals. Each street has countless restaurants, bars, shops, etc. running from burnside to about Quimby street. Great place for a stroll. This area also has several of our favorite restaurants that originated in The Northeast Portland area, we usually go to these in NE but will swing by their NW locations if we are in the area. This includes Salt & Straw, Life of Pie, Pine Street Biscuits, and Bamboo Sushi. There is also a local theater in this area that plays random indie films.
Cute street with lots of food, drink, and shopping options. Definitely worth a stroll. Some favs over there are Fresh Pot for coffee, Gravy for breakfast, Por Que No for tacos/margaritas, and Mississippi Pizza for pizza by the slice (and boozy slushees if it’s hot out). The fun part of this street runs from Mississippi and Skidmore all the way down to Fremont.
This is the neighborhood the wedding venue is in. The Pearl District is Portland’s more upscale downtown with food, bars, breweries, and shops. This is where you will find Powell’s Books on 10th and Burnside. From there head up the alphabet in street names and stay working 10th to 14th to see the Pearl area.
