We had our engagement dinner here!
A gorgeous rooftop bar with a panoramic view of the city. (Not the biggest food serving sizes though!)
A rotating monthly menu of tarts. When Edan lived in Richmond, Phoebe would excitedly check each new menu and insist we go try the latest flavours. A bit expensive though!
Go to the original Melbourne store (before Sydney got one). Often said to be among the best croissants around. Just be prepared for a long line.
A great place to grab a massive deli sandwich. Arrive hungry.
You kind of have to try the Chinatown of any new city! We usually head to ShanDong MaMa or Hu Tong's.
Good for wandering, snacks, and people-watching. If you’re here on a Wednesday night, the Night Market is worth a visit. Lots of street food and drinks.
A favourite for food. Good bakeries, strong lunch options, and an easy place to spend an hour or two.
One of the best things to do for free (though there are also paid exhibitions) - there’s always something great on! NGV International hosts major rotating international exhibitions, while the Ian Potter Centre is the home of Australian art, presenting Indigenous and non-Indigenous works from the colonial period to the present day.
A gallery and cultural centre focused on Aboriginal art and history. We recommend their guided Birrarung (Yarra) walk, or checking what tours, events or exhibitions are on while you’re here.
One of several theatres showing plays and musicals, alongside the Princess, Regent and Comedy theatres (and more!)
Absolutely lovely! Big, green, and a nice reset if you want a slow walk or some fresh air.
Home to a tonne of great restaurants! Grab a cocktail at Gimlet and then head over for dinner at Nomad, Supernormal, Chin Chin, or Cumulus, and duck over to Degraves Street for some gelato at Pidapipo to finish.
Melbourne’s most famous graffiti laneway. Definitely take a photo. The last time we wandered through, we got to take a photo with a massive "Pesto the penguin."
Our Little Italy! If you're after a little wine bar, head to Heartattack and Vine, Milk the Cow, or Johnny's Green Room (rooftop bar). Great restaurants include the Carlton Wine Room, Or maybe pop into Readings to read books until 10pm! For a dessert grab a pastry from Brunetti or grab a gelato at Pidapipo.
About a 1.5-hour drive from the CBD. Great wine tastings, beaches and food. We love Stonier, Montalto, Crittenden, Polperro, Foxey Hangout, and Oceans Eight! Also strongly recommend a few hours at the Peninsula Hot Springs and going up to the top of Arthurs Seat for a great view!
Penguins! Enough said.
