Travel Note
Your Ride Details! We’ve organised a coach to take everyone from central Christchurch to our wedding venue (about a 50-minute drive), so you can just relax and enjoy the day. Pick-up: We'll grab you from outside The Drifter Hotel / Rambler Bar at 1 PM sharp – that's an hour before the ceremony kicks off, so plenty of time! Return: When the party winds down (after 11 PM-ish), the bus will whisk you away from the venue. We're aiming to have you back in Christchurch around midnight. Big Day Heads-Up: We know weddings can be a bit of a marathon! If you're keen to head back earlier – especially if you're a few vinos deep – we’re happy to help you explore other transport options or see below for more info. Making Your Own Way? Flight
We know flying halfway around the world can feel a bit daunting. From the UK, you’ll likely fly out of London Heathrow or Manchester, with stops in places like Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, or Abu Dhabi. Since we’re in Christchurch, some flights also stop in Australia or Auckland before the last short hop. It’s a good idea to allow at least two days for the journey. Flight prices usually range from around £700 to £1500.

As most of you are aware - both of us have had our fair share of travel oopsies and we'd hate for you to have a bad experience making your way to us. If you’re coming from outside NZ or Australia, you’ll need to get a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before you arrive. It’s super quick and simple to apply online—about NZD $17 through the app or $23 on the website. You'll also need to pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35, usually charged at the same time. For British passport holders, you can visit NZ visa-free for up to 6 months. Just make sure your passport’s valid for at least 3 months after you leave. And before you book, have a quick look at immigration.govt.nz to get the latest info. Transit visas - some countries ask travellers to sort out a transit visa even if they’re just passing through, with the USA being one example. The rules can change depending on your nationality, how long your layover is, and whether you’re planning to leave the airport or stay in the transit zone. It’s always a good idea to check the specific visa requirements for each country you’ll be passing through before you travel.

We’ve decided to celebrate close to home, which means you get to enjoy Christchurch during the quieter season—with loads of great places to stay. We’d recommend staying in the city centre to keep things easy. While there are buses from nearby spots, being close means you can soak up more of the fun (and sleep in a little longer!). Our fave? The Drifter Hotel. Through Holly’s work, we’ve got a cheeky 15% discount just for you! It’s a super fun place to stay in Ōtautahi—think private rooms, apartments, shared rooms, and awesome shared spaces like a cinema, yoga room, library… the works. If you're after convenience this weekend, we're hosting our welcome drinks on Friday at the bar downstairs, 'Rambler', and the coach will pick everyone up and drop you off from outside here on Saturday.
