About 90 minutes from Christchurch, Mt Hutt has been recognised as New Zealand's Best Ski Resort for ten years running, so if your into the slopes this is the place to be! If you can go midweek you wont battle the crowds from the city. In the height of winter you may need chains for your car, most car rental companies have these as an added extra. If you don't want to risk it (the road can be a lil precarious) there is a bus that leaves Christchurch or Methven township in the morning and drops you back in the afternoon. Check out their website below for all the info. HOT TIP: round off the day at Ōpuke Thermal Pools and Spa to rest those legs before the drive back to the city.
