We met online, as all millennials do now. We were just two single 24 year old's just looking to see what was out there in the world. After talking for 4 months, we finally met in person. We had an instant connection & things moved really fast! We spent every day together by July. But, for two people who knew what they wanted, it was the perfect timing for us.
Just 5 months after making things official, and after 10 months of knowing each other, I moved with my companions Belle & Cleo up to Omro, WI. At the time, not only was this the best choice for my life but one of the only options she had. The universe aligned and we worked on integrating their 3 dogs into one home. (Joining Mason's two companions, Blue & Charles, in with a new dog and cat!) Well, Cleo had already lived there since August since I was spending most of my time there.
After browsing the market for about a year, we found our dream home & we bought it! We packed up our life, animals, and said our goodbyes to Omro which we loved to head to the big city. Oshkosh. I mean, we can all laugh at that but it is SO much bigger than Omro, let's be honest! Not only did they find we perfect home, but we found the perfect location! It is almost right perfectly between my parents & Mason's parents. With the thought of settling down, the couple really wanted to be sure their dream home was easily accessible to both sides of the family. (Plus, Mason promised my parents they would visit every weekend. How sweet!)
After spending the second year of our relationship in a pandemic, we needed some relief. We embarked on a weekend stay to the beautiful Kalahari resort in Wisconsin Dells with our amazing friends, and members of their bridal party, Sarah & Buck. We unpacked & made our way to the hot tub. After a couple tall frozen drinks and laughter, the topic of engagement came up. Mason mentioned he had a ring and really wanted to do it this weekend, but he forgot the it at home. Sarah mentioned how this would have been a PERFECT weekend to do it. We we're having such a great getaway with our friends that I told him I didn't care if he had it or not. I was going to say yes no matter where it was. He was so sad he forgot it, he was going to call his mom to bring it from Omro. So, we considered it done. After returning to our room, Mason called our friends & family to tell them. When we returned home on Sunday, he proposed to her my over again. A much more true engagement experience; at home with our pets, on one knee, and just us two. Although it may not have been what he imagined, it is a great story we will never forget.
